    Pros

You get a paycheck... that's about the only pro there is to this place. Not much else to say there.

    Cons

The hospital is so small that everyone gossips about everyone. No one has anything better to do than stir up the pot. It's sad because patient care comes second to drama. There is nothing nice about the place. There are so many problems and its something new everyday. They by no means have it together. They need a total revamp and its hard to say where to even start with that place. During the time I was there no one communicated with me about anything that was happening in the department. During the time that I was there I learned that they have had 45 nurses in a matter of 3 years.

    Advice to Management

Please hire more staff. In all departments. If you pay people a comparable rate maybe they will be more willing to stay and not go to another facility.

    Pros

The particular HMA hospital that I worked for was accomodating to working mothers and flexible with scheduling.

    Cons

The pay rate compared to surrounding hospitals was far less than competitive. Management would act like they cared and that employees opinions mattered but it was clear that they didn't.

    Advice to Management

Become more visible by department rounding and implement a better competitive salary package.

    Pros

Relatively easy if you don't want to work.

    Cons

Poor Management, Poor Project Management, Implements systems that have not been tested.

    Advice to Management

Pay is less than average for area, office culture is very political, and incompetent management and staff with no repercussions for those you don't know how or cannot complete their job.

    Pros

You get paid instead of living on the streets. You get a 30 minute unpaid lunch break. The office is nicely decorated.

    Cons

It seems that poor management is a part of the culture at HMA, from the home office, the hospitals to the billing office. When you have poor managers mentoring others, what do you expect? The few good people have left. We worked long hours under a tremendous amount of pressure where your only point of evaluation is how much money you collect. No one considers whether you know the rules or regulations, whether you treat people kindly, whether you care about your customers. There are no opportunities for growth unless you are a young, white man with a college degree.

    Advice to Management

Please please consider evaluating how you treat people. Treat people as if God is watching.
