Current Employee – been working at Heinz full-time for more than 10 years

ProsDecent salary and benefits. Well respected in Pittsburgh. 12 holidays. Business casual.

ConsLots of people are leaving the company. High stress level. No raises 2 of past 3 years. Bonuses reduced. Performance process is a joke. Reviews done after ratings given. Promotions not consistent. Poor Management in many areas. Annual profit sharing only given once a year - company always looking to cut benefits.

Advice to Senior ManagementCutting raises kills morale.

ProsThe new Senior Management are transforming Heinz for the better. The levels of accountability for all levels of Management are among the best of any Company I have worked for. There have been two recent high profile senior female appointments. We were given an additional vacation day on New Year's Eve which shows that employees count.

ConsThere are still too many people stuck in the past who cling onto history

Advice to Senior ManagementStay the transformation course and be firmer with those who are stuck in the past

Former Employee – worked at Heinz full-time for more than 10 years

ProsI used to have a long list of things that I would have said here in this section. All of that is now gone. There is almost nothing that I can say that was positive about Heinz. My last day was just another slap in the face.

ConsMy review is late but I would like to add to the fury here after hearing about all these comments and reviews. I had a very long career at Heinz and was pretty much well liked by both marketing and sales. I did my job and did it well. Then came the job cuts this month. Fine, I understand this happens but let me tell you how they treated those of us that got laid off and it will tell you a lot about the company, it's values, and what it stands for.

It was Friday, near close of business, when rumors started to circulate about a massive round of job cuts. Then everyone started getting meeting invites on their outlook calendar for Monday morning. All of the marketing and sales leaders left before the emails went out so nobody could answer questions. Some got emails to meet with their department leader in their office at a specific time. Others go an email to prepare a project update and be prepared to share it at a conference room that Monday am. Many began to figure it out! Those with meeting with their boss were safe and those being asked for project updates were being let go. I didn't believe it and spent the entire weekend working on my presentation. I even made copies. I came in Monday after working on it all weekend to walk into a barrage of HR. My boss did not even show up. After nearly two decades of my life to Heinz they lie to me and I walk into an ambush. No emotion, no empathy, no apology for making me and hundreds of others work all weekend for no reason. That is what Heinz is all about.

Next the culture. It is really bad and getting worse by the day. According to many, they really are asking employees to put false positive reviews on here. They are recruiting people that will do it. That too tells alot about Heinz. They have little care for anyone unless you can bump up the stock price. There is almost ZERO care for any employees. You have to be a part of the group of old school golden untouchables; otherwise you are just a worker bee.

Diversity is honestly a joke. There isn't any. They hurt a good friend of mine due to diversity issues and kicked them out with a buyout.

Working here is not fun. I highly suggest you think twice before working here. That March day hurt me, hurt my family, hurt my ego and I will never forgive Heinz for how they went about this to so many loyal people.

New people have come in to change this company and change it they did. It will never be what it once was and has been ruined forever.

Former Employee – worked at Heinz full-time for more than 7 years

ProsHeinz is a well known brand and I have pride in the products and history.

ConsHorrible, disorganized management structure and devaluing of employees. There was a lack of a career path for many employees and no matter how hard you worked, you didn't get promoted or encouraged to go for a position. Very much an all white boys company.

Advice to Senior ManagementStart over. Stop allowing the UK to take over this American company. Wipe the slate clean and get some management in who are open minded and have a modern way of thinking.

Former Employee – worked at Heinz full-time for more than 10 years

ProsNext to getting married, I never felt so happy or free than the day last month when I walked out of the 57 Center door for the last time. It was liberating.

I had many good years at Heinz before new leadership and a new culture engulfed the company. Heinz had many great brands with so much potential. Heinz remains a large force with growing brands overseas and in emerging markets like Indonesia, China, Russia, etc.

Most of the top talent is gone but there are still some decent managers and ABMs

ConsWorking at Heinz the past 24 months has been like prison for me. I got no respect, my team got no respect, worklife balance was dismal, and the culture should be a case study for what not to be. New leaders have gutted a once fine company and left it with nothing but political narcissistic leaders who are only into themselves and power. There is no diversity and Heinz actualy seems to dislike anyone other than white men. Particularly blacks, hispanics and gays seem clearly unwelcomed.

The once great marketing leadership team is gone and replaced by less them stellar talent and people that would not survive in good CPG companies . The new leadership has lost control and lost Heinz all together. Human Resources is a joke and they don't even understand basic policies like harassment (had a huge mess here this past year). Sales leadership was once the backbone of Heinz and is now the weakness. The board has little care for people and really only care about themselves and their power. It is a sad situation.

Advice to Senior ManagementAbandon the leadership that is failing this company and hire an American CEO that knows the market and how to treat people.

Former Employee – worked at Heinz full-time

Pros-- USED to have great culture, perhaps it could get back to that?
-- Somewhat flexible work arrangements

Cons-- Treats its employees very badly. Does not promote based on performance and has frozen merit and cost of living increases.
-- No diversity. The leadership actually held a large meeting to address concerns. They emphasized that diversity was important, meanwhile, it was 10 older, white men in identical outfits on stage. Almost all new moms leave soon after having babies. There are almost no 'non-white' marketers. Gay people are clearly not welcome either. I always found it ironic how senior management would talk about the importance of diversity, but HR made it a policy to only recruit marketers from two different MBA programs.
-- Lack of leadership. The leadership has failed to paint a vision for the rest of the team. They are constantly changing focus, which creates havoc. When it does not work, they blame (and fire) the lower level people.

Advice to Senior ManagementHonor the employment deal. If you treat people well -- give them a clear vision and the tools to achieve said vision -- they will bring Heinz to new heights. Reward people for achievements through promotions and compensation. Stop hiring people who look and think just like you. Heinz is decades behind, and that mentality will just drop them further.

Current Employee – been working at Heinz full-time for more than 8 years

ProsHeinz was a top tier and amazing organziation and leader in the food industry. We had overcome our poor reputation from the 80s and 90s. Several high profile investors forced Heinz to invest in marketing a grow key brands. Profit sored and brands thrived. Today all of that is gone. The compny is a shell of what it used to be. It is a sad place, with little talent, a bad culture, dead brands, and sad employees

ConsHeinz has allowed British influence to kill what was once great. Heinz NA built a reputation with retailers that was best in class under former leadership. Heinz became greety and new management has destroyed all that we built. HNA carried HNZ for years and they have crushed that. The culture is crushed and of the worst at any company I have seen. All of the top talent is gone and what remains is basically what other companies would never hire. The leadership in both marketing and sales is incompetent and self absorbed. Many great leaders were forced to quit or pushed out due to things like race or sexuality. To say HNA is a mess right now is an understatement. God help this historic organization.

Current Employee – been working at Heinz full-time for more than 8 years

ProsStellar brands in ketchup and condiments. Some frozen brands that are ok. Overseas brands are excellent. However the company and culture are fading fast with poor new leadership

ConsThe organization is being managed by a few men that no nothing about the CPG industry in the United States. Sales is being run by a clique of older men with very little talent. The other reviews are correct in that diversity is not only not valued but actually frowned upon. Diversity in the eyes of Heinz is a female. Lastly the culture is in complete chaos and in a negative tailspin. Overworked employees are not valued at all, top talent quits daily, and great peole are managed out. As others have also mentioned there was also a very big sexual harassment case that was mishandled and the accused walked away rewarded rathar than punished. Change is needed across the board starting with leadership and Sales Board. They also hurt one of my good friends and a shopper marketing leader.

Advice to Senior ManagementPull the plug ASAP
