Former Employee – worked at Hudson Group full-time for more than a year

ProsThere were great middle managers at the company - I felt like my immediate superiors knew what they were talking about and were empathetic to my needs as well as the customers'.

ConsThe overall person running the company didn't seem to entirely have his act together - he's been replaced, from what I've heard. Other than that and a focus on sales I didn't see any problems.

Newark, NJ (US)

Current Employee – been working at Hudson Group part-time for less than a year

ProsCoworkers (at least the ones in my store) are very friendly, all having worked for Hudson 5-7 years; willing to work with you, help you.

ConsManagement very condescending (on good days) or rude (on bad days). Salary, though higher than most customer service jobs, is woefully low compared to the work done everyday --and don't get me started on the taxes/ withheld pay!

Advice to Senior ManagementRemember that sales associates are people too, basically the ones that made Hudson News into the legitimate global business it is today.

Current Employee – been working at Hudson Group full-time for more than 3 years

ProsHudson's focus on customer service can do a great deal to train up skills on dealing with people.

ConsHudson "strongly encourages" all salaried employees to work at least 50 hours a week. This, combined with a tight payroll, can means store managers often find themselves working on register four or five days a week, in addition to their managerial duties.

ProsSome of the people working there are very nice and pleasant to work

ConsThen you have the management team, whom are lazy and don't care about the workers but are more focus on making money.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop taking coffee breaks and sitting on your behind the whole day and do some work!

Current Employee – been working at Hudson Group

ProsVery casual work atmosphere. No pressure. Very "9-5". The office building has a gym and cafeteria.
Nice space.

ConsSenior mgt has been there forever just waiting to retire. Not motivational. No career growth or training. The dead zone.

Advice to Senior ManagementReplace VP of HR with new blood. Stop phony Las Vegas rah rah and really implement meaningful career growth.
