I have been working at IKEA part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, discounts, flexible hours, great co-workers and management, person growth, PTO/Benefits at part-time.

    Cons

Some lack of organization and communication, short hours, and weekends off are rare.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on communication across departments, even though they're divided they should all work as one and when one is confused on how the other functions it makes working together difficult.

I have been working at IKEA

    Pros

Great people to work with, decent pay.

    Cons

Often short staffed, not a typical grocery-checkout role, physically demanding. Customers sometimes find IKEA overwhelming and may often take it out on you when they reach the end of the store at the checkout.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hire more people.

I have been working at IKEA full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

IKEA is a great solid company to work for; they truly are one of the most diverse companies I have ever worked for, and they pay very competitively.

    Cons

IKEA does not believe in staffing their stores to meet the needs of the customers, and plan their hours budgets to unrealistic expectations. Managers are often held accountable to get a job done without being allowed the staff and or hours to do so.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be prepared to think on your own. Although there is a lot of guidance in place, IKEA is not an environment of corporate decisions!
