I have been working at IKEA part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Here is a company who not only cares about its community, but knows that in order to do so they need to take care of their employees. I have never seen a better group of individuals in one place than at IKEA. The best benefit package I have seen bar none.

    Cons

The pay is low, great for recent grads and individuals with no family. Otherwise, Their pay is the highest in the retail industry and you can live off it, just turn in your Hummer and buy a Corolla.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay on task. If they continue to execute their culture, it will hands down be the best place I have ever worked for.

I worked at IKEA part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pay is great. Very flexible. Oppurtunities to travel.

    Cons

Lack of hours. Lack of ownership and trust within departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to be more interested in what is going on within their departments. Oppurtunities for adequate training in order to advance is also needed. Also, more hours should be avaliable for coworkers. Even with the pay is great...it doesn't really mean muchb if your workinf 15-20 hrs a week.

    Pros

Company gives you a chance to become a leader in whatever area you are working in. Easy to get along with most coworkers and managers

    Cons

Much like any job the pay could always be better. Dont have enough coworkers at certain departments when there is a need for them.

I have been working at IKEA full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Strong culture and values
People are generally positive about their jobs
    Opportunities for advancement
    Decent pay
    Great benefits

    Cons

Not all management has the values as top priority.
If you aren't familiar with company culture, practical advice and mentoring can be hard to come by.
Despite the promise of company's values, some in leadership prefer safer (mediocre) ways of doing things.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get back to Ingvar's way of doing things. Short-term thinking will never yield the long term results you're seeking.

I have been working at IKEA full-time for less than a year

    Pros

First and foremost, the majority of the employees are happy to work at IKEA, you can tell in their attitudes and actions. There is a great sense of equality, the senior leadership in a store sits at a group of desks and wears the same casual uniforms as everyone else without coming off as being better than the rest of the team. There is a great sense of inclusion in decision making processes, and the company goes way above and beyond to provide a pleasant work environment for its employees. Gotta love the Swedishness! Employees get a great deal on meals which goes easy on the wallet. There is a lot of opportunity for promotion/movement between departments, stores, and countries. IKEA is a growing company with a lot of potential in the US, the brand is becoming stronger and stronger and it is exciting to be a part of a unique shopping experience.

    Cons

There are no Cons to mention other than it is different. There is almost some culture shock, but in a good way.
