I have been working at Intel Corporation as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

For a permanent employee, the work-life balance is good, there is easy access to some very excellent facilities and the company and the work environment is supportive. They also provide free transport and many other perks. I also think that they take good care of an employee's health through various means

    Cons

If you're a contract employee in India on the other hand, work life tends to be pretty bad. There is overtime on a regular basis, but no real compensation for it. Actual learning is limited because everyone has specific job roles and there are many access restrictions. Also, as a contract employee, you get the worst of both worlds, like a start-up, you'd have to work your butt off for meager wages and like an MNC, your learning speed is slow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please maintain the same standards the MNC follows in the US, the hiring practices of some of the teams give off a feeling of nepotism. Also, as mentioned earlier, contract work that I've seen felt like a technological sweat shop running off cheap labor. I just want the upper management to be aware of this, if they're not already.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Well performing employees should be aptly paid.
    2. Decision making process should be streamlined.

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

fantastic culture, work-life balance, benefits, mostly all pampering..
amazingly professional work environment.. with respect to aspects other than work you can challenge anything and everything and you will be heard for sure.. this place is a home away from home
vertical orgs can be really good to work for but only in techno functional areas..

    Cons

if you are an activator/performer/disruptive/thinker then stagnancy will haunt you every 2 or less than years.. work progress is very slow.. exposure as a technical person is negligible (mostly in all IT groups) except the tech you are working on (exposure/learning strictly subjected to your own interest; no body will say you a word if you remain av performer even for years), even in that there will be a team to take care of related worries.. its basically a place of talkers, #of doers are so less that you can ignore... two good parts.. 1. if you are lucky and highly patient then instead of just working round the clock, get yourself heard by management- you will shine unless until by then your ego and zeal had not died. 2. this place can be amazing if you are hired at some managerial level- then just settle for life :)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

walk the talk at ground level pl... be a risk taker..
