Current Employee – been working at Investment Technology
Pros – Benefits
Training and Development opportunities
Work/Life balance
Cons – Management isn't tough enough on holding the line for poor performance, and this drags down the credibility of the firm and has a detrimental impact on the talent that the firm is trying to retain. Loyalty is taken a little too far in some cases, and mediocrity is being rewarded in lieu of rewards for superstars.
Advice to Senior Management – Disseminate the "boys club".

Current Employee – been working at Investment Technology
Pros – Prior to the recession, the company was really trying to grow in the electronic trading market. They have a true niche in the market with solid product/service offerings.
Cons – The company leadership has no idea how to keep the company afloat. Some MDs are more concerned with being friends with the people they manage than being mentors. They keep cutting our benefits.
Advice to Senior Management – Value your employees more. Stop cutting the business and expecting it to grow. Stop paying yourselves and cutting pay to your employees.

Pros – Work Life Balance. Get Most Benefits. Competitive starting salaries if you graduated from a good school (fresh grads). Friendly low stress environment. Excellent products well recognized and respected in market. Financial Firm, so experience you get is so useful if you want to move to some bigger firm when you feel it is the time. Most interns get hired even in bad economic times. So lucky you if you are an intern and your manager was satisfied with your performance.
Cons – Tough to increase your salary in a bad economy and job security becomes questionable if your performance isn't wow..
Advice to Senior Management – Cutting costs and decreasing head count is not the only answer in difficult times. Losing the good people to competitors has a big price. There should be some good ways to increase revenues and market share in a faster pace even when the economy slows down.

Former Employee – worked at Investment Technology
Pros – It's a good place to work with decent salary, benefits, etc. There are many different groups to work within because of their enterprise solutions.
Cons – It's a good place to work with decent salary, benefits, etc. But if you are not in the old boys club, you won't advance
Advice to Senior Management – Provide more feedback to employees on corporate status. And maybe relay down the ranks that good employees should be (at least ) praised for good work

Current Employee – been working at Investment Technology
Pros – Large company with a small company feel. Company has tremendous growth potential given the recent collapse of some very large competitors. No capital at risk, so little chance of a blow up.
Cons – Some projects take a long time to get implemented or do not meet the client specs when they finally are. Technology good but not leading edge.
Advice to Senior Management – Make it clear to the employees what they are expected to do to grow the business and how they get paid if they succeed.
