I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Without a doubt the worst OTR company in the united states that I have worked for.

    Cons

Trying to get home , pay and generally being treated like crap, trying ti get sleep while dispatchers send numerous messages over a QUALCOMM to tell you irrelevant info.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Enjoy the fruits of your elitist business plan while your reputation continues to one of the industry's worst. Just remember there are a finite number of truck drivers on this planet and the vast majority already know from former employees like me how sorry JB hunt is

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good equipment and most managers are good

    Cons

They need to change to only having Safety Managers that have a current CDL license and have actually driven a truck why should I have to explain myself to somebody that has never driven a commercial vehicle. Pay for local drivers average 1100.00 a week pay is not by the hour. When you divide your pay by your average hours worked it equals out to less than 14.00 hr most drivers work a 70 hour week. LTL companies pay around $18.00 to $27.00 hour

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

pay local drivers by the hour instead of by the mile. Local drivers can not make a living getting paid by the mile

    Pros

Will hire veterans with no driving experience. Similar to most other major trucking companies otherwise. I enjoyed working for them up until I didn't.

    Cons

I had a truck driving job. Weeks away from home, and plenty of downtime in areas where there's nothing to do. I read a lot of books.

    Pros

equipment is good management is ok...Benifits are good

    Cons

I am a local driver on the Home Depot account..being paid by the mile to run local is total B.S. if u think dispatch playing favorites on loads affects you're paycheck when u run O.T.R. think what it does when u have alot of 300-500 mile loads and alot of 30-50 mile loads..some drivers work 50 hrs a week and make $1100..and some drivers work 60 hrs and make $900 total B.S.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at J.B. Hunt full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You learn a ton about transportation and employee management. You learn to be very detailed with your work and a lot of promotion opportunities.

    Cons

No work life balance. Once you start they add on to the work load until you spend very little time at home and don't have much of a life. The company also has a lot of policies that put you in compromising situations. They also make you "review" every little thing with drivers and the whole process is very time consuming. People don't stay at this company very long, A LOT of young people just getting their start.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize that people have home lives and personal time is much needed. Waiting a full year to get a week off is a long time when your working 60+ hours a week.
