    Pros

You were treated as a partner/owner of the firm. Was a great place to work at one time. The place was truly a great place to work. The management was hands on and always made you feel important. Compensation was fair and everyone was generous. The CEO called you on your birthday! Every year! believe it.

    Cons

New management brought a different feeling...just a number. Keep your head down...

    Advice to Management

the old guard (Jefferies, Baxter, Bellucci, Shaw..) always treated you fairly and as a partner. that feeling and attitude seemed to have left with the new management that was brought in.

    Pros

    People are great. Warm environment

    Cons

Upper Management doesn't have a clue. Some senior VPs are cool. It's the head of departments that are oblivious. They do not compensate their employees properly for the job they do.They have no plan, do not have their act together.

    Advice to Management

Take your head out of the sand. People are leaving because you are too busy giving dinner parties in your pent house for people that don't matter! Take care of your employees, the ones doing the grunt work.

    Pros

Teamwork and learning, they pay you and train you to the fullest extent which is very hard to find. The exposure to deals is limitless as well.

    Cons

No cons unless you can't handle the hours.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Good interaction with people that you work with. Pleasant atmosphere to work at. Hours are flexible. Dress code is casual.

    Cons

Internal mobility is rare. You are asked to do a job and that job may not change a lot.

    Advice to Management

    sell to a Canadian bank.

    Pros

Jefferies investment banking division is an up and comer in the industry. As an analyst, it's a great place to get solid experience.

    Cons

Work life balance is slightly worse than at other major banks for similar compensation. Don't expect to stand up from your desk without forwarding your phone.

    Advice to Management

Implement group activities to help boost culture, i.e. team retreats, etc...

    Pros

Jefferies has a very nice culture of welcoming new members. Mid-level management is extremely competent

    Cons

Upper management in divisions outside of Investment Banking don't seem to believe in the company, always justifying that their ways are better because they were done in Goldman. The S&T divisions are poorly structured, specially for interns that often have nothing to do for weeks.

    Advice to Management

Create more (better) structured programs for new out-of-school employees and avoid trying to claim you are just like Goldman Sachs. S&T upper management supported the view that this is not a good place to work, specially out of college.
