Current Employee – been working at Linear Technology
Pros – Good compensation
good communication within engineering team
got exposure to a large range of things
engineering atmosphere is good if staying in the right team
Cons – Not much professional training
Not many chances for promotion
Sometimes, the large work load can prevent you from learning new things.
Advice to Senior Management – In fact, I think the management did what they were supposed to do.
Maybe, as employee, people may think the management shall do more things for them. But the management did their work for the company and for big shareholder. So no big complain.

Current Employee – been working at Linear Technology
Pros – Products are high performance, robust and reliable. Engineers have the right attitude to make things right at the very first try. LTC has interesting innovation in IC development.
Cons – LTC is a conservative company. Upper and senior managements don't usually take risk and implement big changes. If they find a way that works, they stick with that way until something catastrophic happens.
Advice to Senior Management – I can't think of anything to say now. Consider the current economic condition, the company is in a relatively good position and make good profits when the economy becomes better.

Former Employee – worked at Linear Technology
Pros – Design is focus on making sure their part is near perfect when release.
Get to work with some of the best designers around.
Able to pick the brains for ideas & help.
Cons – Non – engineering personnel is not highly regarded compared to engineers.
Not many people can utilize the tuition reimbursement.
Rapid career advancement is unlikely – hierarchy is flat.
Advice to Senior Management – Management needs to loosen some of the purse-strings – Linear is not willing spend the money thatcan better the company in R&D and the employees.
Establish a better development program for personnel when becoming managers.

Former Employee – worked at Linear Technology
Pros – Exceptional talent. Good networking. A lot of collaboration by way of walking around and chatting about circuits, techniques etc. Not a lot of micromanaging. Fairly efficiently run company. Excellent compensation, especially in the form of bonuses.
Cons – Sometimes frugality made the job challenging. Linear used to have a lack of desire in wanting to spend the extra buck on software packages or equipment. They have improved on this over the years. This frugality also led to innovation (a pro) where engineers had to be clever to circumvent whatever shortcomings they had.
Advice to Senior Management – In general, the management is well run. It was nice that most of the management team was once on the engineering side.

Former Employee – worked at Linear Technology
Pros – If you want to work with some of the smartest people in the field of analog circuits, this is the place. There are top notch engineers all around and everyone is doing challenging and educational work. You have a lot of individual responsibility for your own project. Flat hierarchy with high employee retention. Rewarding profit sharing program and paid sabbatical.
Cons – The benefits package is a bit lacking (no vision insurance). Stingy corporate culture; the company is reluctant to spend money on computers and lab equipment. Minimal vacation days.
Advice to Senior Management – Be less stingy with money for lab equipment and offer more paid time off.

Pros – work with strong design and application teams
Cons – employee benefits are omitted always.
stingy enterprise culture.
sacrify employee's benefit or laid off people whenever economic SLIGHTLY affects the company's revenue (before other companies do).
Advice to Senior Management – wake up! lower your profit margin...

Current Employee – been working at Linear Technology
Pros – Get to work with some smart people.
Cons – Annual reviews focus more on negatives than positive. Max 5% raises, even during good times. Meager stock awards. A "Cover your ass" mentality. Lots of cussing and unprofessionalism from management. Design is king, all other depts are step children and abused. Some engineers are buddy buddy with their boss and able to slack off, you end up having to pick up the slack. Very little chance for career growth. No training provided. VERY HARD to get needed equipment (it took 2 years to get adequate chairs on test floor, people used to stand at terminals).
Advice to Senior Management – Lighten up and loosen the purse strings. Be more supportive of employees and treat them fairly.

Former Employee – worked at Linear Technology
Pros – Linear has some incredibly talented employees and there are many opportunities to learn if you search for the right mentors.
Cons – There are some not so talented employees making it important that you take the effort to find those who can help you grow. Leadership also varies wildly between groups.
Advice to Senior Management – Do more to differentiate the treatment of your excellent and not so excellent employees.

Current Employee – been working at Linear Technology
Pros – A chance to work with some of the best analog design engineers in the industry. You will have a chance to learn from the best. Whereas the base salaries may be lower than some to the competing companies, they have some of the most lucrative profit sharing in the industry that more than make up for it.
Cons – The work environment can be quite aggressive and intimidating. Also, if you are not part of the "in-crowd," you may consider yourself a second class citizen.
Advice to Senior Management – Lighten' up a bit, please.
