    Pros

They have a state of the art machine shop and work on some of the best part. Plenty of overtime.

    Cons

The management is looking for their next promotion and the two years of breaking in the next set is insane.

    Advice to Management

Your four year degree isn't worth a PhD in manufacturing, either ask or go do some spreadsheet.

    Pros

I worked for Lockheed Martin for over 10 years. It was a great experience - learned a lot from some of the most talented people in the business. They had a very strong ethics program which set them apart from competitors and strong leadership. Really good work/life balance and salaries were generous.

    Cons

Since it is such a large company, their overhead budgets (anything not charged directly to a contract) are fairly limited, but I think it keeps costs down so that new opportunities can be won. The facility I where I worked had a training center that allowed the workforce to take classes on their own time, so that was a benefit.

    Advice to Management

As long as you keep upholding your high standards and continue to value your workforce as your best resources, you will remain successful.

    Pros

It is a pretty stable job. I've been working there for at least five years and have yet to fear for my job.

    Cons

You can get lost in the shuffle if you aren't active in your job. It appears that the most people who get opportunities are the one who participated in their LDP program.

    Advice to Management

I'd advise management to be more active in their employees lives. Offer some career guidance or ways for a individual to improve themselves.

    Pros

Minimal Supervision they give you ownership with little direction that gives you confidence that you can determine what is best options to be successful in whatever role you have secured.

    Cons

There were no cons Lockheed Martin is a good place to work. Their are always threats of consolidation and lay offs which keeps the employees constantly walking on egg shells.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work

    Pros

Great benefits, flexible hours(as long as you work your full 9 hour shift) Interesting projects, and getting to work with brilliant minds. If you want to work towards a different/better position, they are helpful in that.

    Cons

If a project hits, with a short deadline, you will be working long hours and weekends. Most projects seem to be this way.... so you end up working over 40 hours weekly. There is a lack of young people, and a lot of policies that make things difficult. Middle management is looking to move up, so often they are looking out for themselves more than those below them.

    Advice to Management

Work towards moving the company into this era. Just because things have always been a certain way, doesn't mean they should stay that way. Find a way to make young people stay.
