Former Employee – worked at Manulife Financial full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Manulife is great in many aspects such as providing a great work/life balance and flexible workday. The pay and benefits are competitive. Working in different departments is great because it is like moving companies as the departments are so diverse.
Cons – Advancement not always based on merit or ability; lots of "who you know". While the internal hiring is promoted as an important aspect of Manulife, the HR team doesn't look at giving people the opportunity to stretch
Advice to Senior Management – Review the project decisions that are made because mid managers and line areas will manipulate business cases to satisfy their objective yet it may not be the right overall decision.
