Former Employee – worked at Manulife Financial full-time for more than 10 years

ProsManulife is great in many aspects such as providing a great work/life balance and flexible workday. The pay and benefits are competitive. Working in different departments is great because it is like moving companies as the departments are so diverse.

ConsAdvancement not always based on merit or ability; lots of "who you know". While the internal hiring is promoted as an important aspect of Manulife, the HR team doesn't look at giving people the opportunity to stretch

Advice to Senior ManagementReview the project decisions that are made because mid managers and line areas will manipulate business cases to satisfy their objective yet it may not be the right overall decision.

Current Employee – been working at Manulife Financial full-time for more than a year

ProsPeople are fine, have some nice company benefits, workload are fine (depending on the teams)

ConsPoor working environment, company norms / culture is bad (inactive in style, less communication), doesn't have any free food or drinks provided in the pantry (all self provide), work is boring and less challenging (Only choose to join if you enjoy or willing to provide the supporting work to the corporate), company are very strict about money usage (lead to "stingy" scenarios), work station or equipment are bad / outdated, work and performance oriented, a lot of website access limitation
