I have been working at Marriott full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I liked the feeling of employees as Family. We had a meeting every day to tell us what was happening, "Events" Our General Manager started at Marriott as a dishwasher! On his way up, he worked in every Department.

    Cons

We had a group called the "Ample Beauties ", a couple times a year, 200 of them, they tore the place up ! However, they only were there for 2 night.

I worked at Marriott full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You get discounts to stay at pretty much any Marriott anywhere (with advance planning) and it's not one of those "boring desk jobs". You get TONS of customer service experience and learn something new daily. Great for college aged kids not looking for a career but a respectable job.

    Cons

It's hard to get those discounts sometimes, and can be hard to get off on the weekends naturally. Marriott doesn't give its employees enough "reward" or benefits, so make sure it's a hotel with a good management company. There will ALWAYS be be turnover in hotel business, it's just not a career, so be prepared for change in management in employees IF you're even there long.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go above and beyond for the guests and looks for those types of employees who will do the same. Be a manager not a friend, set boundaries and don't forget to be there in front sometimes too.

I have been working at Marriott

    Pros

the benefits are great the hours are great most of the team members are great it was a great experience and to be a part of the Marriott in general is a benefit for the employee and the hotel if you are a great worker

    Cons

time management was a bit undecided and it was shaky when it came to the schedule due to change in management also communication needs to be improved with management and some staff.

I have been working at Marriott full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

-Depending on your department and your manager, they are very flexible with hours. I was a full time student and worked full time, and scheduling was barely an issue.
-If you work full time you're eligible for health care benefits
    -Great hotel discounts for employees
    -Great pay
-A lot opportunity to move up in the company

    Cons

-Stagnant communication from lower to upper management
-Departments don't always get along management wise
    -Cafeteria food is low-tier

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Marketing. The hotel has three pools on the property, a very nice spa, and is immediately across the street from a high end shopping mall. Take advantage of what the property has to offer, give out special promotions for the spa.

I have been working at Marriott full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Working under the Marriott name is nice because it is well recognized and highly respected in the hotel industry. Marriott gives employees, friends and family a nice discount on hotel rooms anywhere in the world.

    Cons

Be careful because many Marriott hotels are franchised by local or national hospitality management companies. Marriott has great benefits and a culture focused on their people. However, most management companies that are franchisees care about saving money at the expense of their people and cut benefits or hardly have any.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the focus on your employees and your guests will see the benefits.

I worked at Marriott full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Strong culture, clear strategic targets, management team are supportive trying to improve the company's talent management. Benefits offered to employees can be graded with a 3 out of 5.

    Cons

Not enough trainings offered to line employees. Due to high turnover 70% of management are not qualified for their position. The transition period to managerial role is too short for them.

I have been working at Marriott full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Management really tries to work with my schedule. They are strict but will praise your work regularly. They
always have fun events for staff and encourage a positive atmosphere.

    Cons

The pay is the worst I've ever made. But I was still learning my position so I feel certain they will give me a
    raise in the near future.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Good employees will leave the company over salaries. Although no one is suppose to discuss what thay make
here, unfortunely they do talk about it. I'm aware of people just hired making more for a job not as qualified. Leads
me to believe they will cheat you out of a fair salary if they can get away with it. Not a good feeling and makes me
less loyal. Big mistake by the General Manager.
