No real financial support - income is essentially all commission based; even if you get on the stipend, they are very coy about how easy it is to lose it

I have been working at MassMutual full-time for less than a year
Pros – Extreme flexibility (potential con if abused)
-OPPORTUNITY to make a lot of money
-Chance to help people
-Your own business
Cons – 100% comission
-Takes a couple YEARS to build business
-Lots of cold calling/phoning
-Learn as you go
-SPLIT comissions when starting out
- ~70% turnover = your clients go to someone else when you decide to change careers
Advice to Senior Management – This is a VERY tough business, but if you stick the first couple years of learning out, you can be very successful. Have a good +/-6 months of fallback savings to cover bills/ expenses when starting out.

I worked at MassMutual
Pros – Good Company history and weekly training is good
Cons – You are not on a salary or even a draw for that matter, yet they want you to document all of your calls and have a pipeline of prospects and work 50 hours a week. After 2-3 months, they are going to start charging you for back office help and supplies.
Advice to Senior Management – give a draw or base salary. your turnover is really high

I have been working at MassMutual full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Nice location and seems very professional.
Cons – Make sure you have lots of money to start. They charge us for everything business related and nothing is free. Commissions are industry low. Set up like a Pyramid Scheme. Management can now sell and coach you. So while you are selling so are they and if they help you they will want to split the commissions.
Advice to Senior Management – Look to give new reps a salary plus bonus instead of commission only.

I have been working at MassMutual full-time for more than a year
Pros – Worked with a great bunch of people.
Cons – Good ole boy company with good ole boy mentality.
Advice to Senior Management – The GA at the agency I was with was not very understanding...had a temper and would blow up at the "Leadership" meetings at times. The one-on-ones were brutal, especially if you didn't have the right "take a ways"
