Current Employee – been working at McAfee
Pros – 1. Great work-life balance. People never trouble you to stay late or load you with too much work.
2. If you are staying in Koramangala or Domlur, you can come in shuttles. (No shuttles from other places.)
3. Great culture to work in. Fun and entertainment.
4. Good opportunities to move within different teams (if your track record in McAfee is good.)
5. Free snacks, gym, wi-fi
6. Good place for Managers. Your pay may not be great but very good place to settle in life. No work tension.
7. Good for short term (1 - 5 yrs) and bad for long term (5 yrs) especially in early career. Same is not applicable for managers here. For managers, it is good for long term too.
8. McAfee Labs and Network BU are great places to work in McAfee.
9. At least 3 outings in a year for all teams.
10. Great place to enrich your skill-set. Online books and resources available within McAfee to learn new technologies.
Cons – 1. Pay is decent but not equal to that of other players in the market. So, all good quality engineers never stay with McAfee.
2. Managers wait for you to quit and then give you hike and promotions.
3. No working from home option for below lead roles.
4. No laptops for roles below leads.
5. Many managers are just puppet of their Senior managers. They don't have a say in any decisions. (But there are certain BUs which has very good managers and senior managers.)
6. If you are in a shared project (between India and US), you won't get good quality work.
7. Lot of people who don't work and claim others work stay long in McAfee. Managers are idiotic enough to believe them. If you join such a team either quit or move to a different team.
8. Very few good engineers stay with McAfee.
Advice to Senior Management – Value your engineers. If you are not going to pay as much as other players in the market, you won't get quality resources. If you don't get quality engineers you will end up with low quality security solutions. Don't wait for an engineer to quit McAfee and offer him hike and promotion. First eliminate all those engineers who claim work done by others as theirs. These people screw up team dynamics. (Because if you have a happy team, productivity will be higher.) If there is no time for doing research during office time, innovative ideas will be sparse. More important advice Think about the quality of the products and not just on the release dates.

Current Employee – been working at McAfee
Pros – Very good HR policies in Market. HR and management very supportive to employee well being and concerns. Salaries are at par.
Cons – with growth, loosing its focus. No one knows whats going on..
The talent pool seriously needs to be refilled as most of the good people are leaving for greener pastures due to unfair promotions
Advice to Senior Management – Watch for the real performers and weed out the parasites who earn a name for themselves based on someone else performance. Dont wait for someone to quit before offering him everyhting.

Current Employee – been working at McAfee
Pros – Decent pay
Flexi timings
Minor perks such as a one-off bonus, outings etc
Cons – No Stock Options (read RSUs) after Intel acquired
Has lot of old-timers who have clung on their job for life and they yield a lot of authority
Values domain-experts over technical-experts
No work from home options for "some" people.
Advice to Senior Management – Having managers who have domain knowledge is OK but most managers here lack communication skills..secondly most middle-level managers are Sunnyvale followers..they simply lack conviction and they do not want to change with times.. ala old fashioned babus! Please pay attention to manager's soft skills as well and secondly try to mould technical experts into functional experts.

Current Employee – been working at McAfee
Pros – Employees are a fun to work with, Good work life balance, Helath Care Club and other activities. Good place if you just want to have a normal salary and settle down
Cons – Absolutely no professional growth, Senior Management doesnt have long term goals and in their scatter for short term profits they completely forget about the employees, Compensation is very bad and little scope for raises and appraisals. Company itself is very stringent budgets. Besides its a sinking ship.
Advice to Senior Management – Please be a bit more sensible.

Former Employee – worked at McAfee
Pros – Some of the best colleagues in the market.
Lots of visibility.
Free environment to work in.
Career flexibility is high.
Cons – McAfee while initially a great company to work in, somewhere down the line lost track of long term goals and instead started focusing on short term opportunities.
Advice to Senior Management – While short term ventures and product life cycles may be what sales would be most pleased with, there should be more attention on long term goals and road map of the product as well.
