I worked at Microsoft as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

You'll find the best people working around yourself, which is the biggest motivation. Though it depends on team, in general people are given authority to take decisions. Recreational area is good, which includes TT, foosball, chess tables, and x-box with kinect. People are co-operative, help you learn.

    Cons

Though they have many projects going on, the pace of work is average. This is not to say that you won't get a lot of work, its that you won't see your deliverables go live for a long time. There are good things to learn, but not many new things to learn. You can get similar opportunities at other places too.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing the good work. Try to pull some more important stuff to India office.

I worked at Microsoft full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good work and challenging environment

    Cons

Rating system is not up to the mark, few managers are not having guts to take risk change ratings..mostly they prefer to keep last ratings only..

once you are below 3, then will never let you grow again and slowly make you quit the company...If you are good with your manager then everything would be good with you...or else life will be hell

Current Employee - Software Development Engineer II in Bangalore

I have been working at Microsoft full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    1. Hardly any politics
    2. Good place to learn
    3. Very agile
    4. Good for career growth and to start career
    5. Inspiring colleagues
    6. Lot of free snacks/fruits/cookies

    Cons

    1. Work life balance is a question mark. Even without management demanding, peers work day and night. This causes peer pressure and jolt work life balance.
    2. No place for fun. Hardly any team building. Expected to work and contribute from day 1.
    3. Need to talk to multiple internal teams to understand stuff and that can get tiring at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just go a little easy. Everyone seems to be restless.
