Current Employee – been working at Molina Healthcare full-time for more than 3 years

ProsSome really great people work for Molina. It is a great place to work when everyone is working together and tasks don't get bogged down in department politics.

ConsCompany talks about work and life balance but sr managers don't practice it, because they let the workload increase without trying to increase staff. Also, accountability is not consistent across the company. Some groups are very accountable and responsive and others are not. This results in the groups where accountability is expected taking on more of the work. There is also a lot of politics. At higher management levels. The IT staff does not respect the state sites, and does not communicate with them on changes.

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove accountability across all it groups. Implement ITIL processes instead f just taking about it, and learn to meet the needs of your state sites, rather than always try to dictate to them.

Former Employee – worked at Molina Healthcare full-time

ProsGood 401 K match by the employer.

ConsIf you do not have self respect, this company is perfect for you. Be especially careful with the middle management people as they will not bother to blink when they want to throw you under the bus to cover up their behinds (e.g. giving you directions that did not please the upper management, the poor communication would be blamed on you and not on them) and smell good to the upper management.

The mission statement presented by this company is a joke. Many people who work at Molina are far from being respectful. Many of them do not even know what the true meaning of respect is.

People who continue to work there are those who cannot survive in a real work environment of health professionals. New medical directors wanted things to be spoon fed to them - laziness, incompetency, or bullying?

Last but not least, if you are a "buddy" of the supervisor/manager you could get away with anything. Not much health insurance experience? No problem. Good at sucking up? You'll survive. You can even rise up the ranks faster (but remember not to let go of your quality of being a good suck up if you want the management to continue supporting you). Oh, also when they experience another "MASS EXODUS" as what happened in 2011, you will hear some supportive words from the management in order to keep the stragglers, otherwise they will totally run out of staff who they can continue to "play with" the make believe game that Molina is great/fun place to work .

Advice to Senior ManagementCannot give any specific advice because who knows how much they already know about the low work ethic in this company and their involvement in this. It is just going to fall on deaf ears. I will just leave it to the people who are smart enough to know that self respect and NOT working in this place is synonymous.

ProsThe company pays high for their employees and the benefits are pretty decent too. You get 3 weeks of PTO for the first 5 years.

ConsManagement does not care about your career or opportunity for growth. There are a lot of back-stabbing people who work here, and if you aren't friends with the Molina or any of their senior management, then forget about getting any promotions or pay increases. This is a company all about "name dropping" and will use it to their full advantage.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more fair across the board, and hire real management who knows what they are doing.

Current Employee – been working at Molina Healthcare as a contractor for more than a year

ProsGood salary
Some nice people

As a contractor you received good money, yet I believe that some of the staff was unhappy about their salary. Te company promotes a, lets throw more people at the job, to do the job better, instead of let's hire the right people for the job. Outside offshore contractors are being hired, rather then Americans. Which is fine except that Molina's motto is a family business?! They seem to make money out of this philosophy, thanks to the Obama bill. I just think that all the money the company have wasted, could've been used for something better. I will not work for this company again! Very unorganized, changing direction all the time, with management that can't make a decision.

ConsBad management
Long hours
Favoritism
Unorganized
Bad work, life balance

Advice to Senior ManagementMake a decision, and stand by it. Lead your people, don't manage them. Hire the right people for the job.

ProsDecent pay, some good people that are in it to make a positive impact.

ConsThis is one of the worst places I have ever worked. They do not follow to culture of the organization to any degree however claim to care about the employees. The daily activities consist of people throwing whoever they can under the bus to cover themselves because they have no idea what they are doing. Leadership doesn’t pay attention to staff and have no idea what is really going on and have little to no professionalism to speak of. It’s a hectic, high stress, toxic environment for all the wrong reasons.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay attention to what is really happening within the company instead of taking the word of the same corrupt individuals bleeding it dry.

Current Employee – been working at Molina Healthcare full-time for more than 3 years

ProsIts a job. The pay here is not bad. Benefits are OK. Some of the perks are fine.

ConsLong hours. Total lack of direction. Phoney baloney managers. Suckup "leaders" and a cover-your-tail style of management. This company does not value good people. So if you need a job, take it and look for a new one. The vp level may as well be a revolving door. The turnover rate at this stinkhole is unbelievable. They churn through people at a whim and the term "human resources" is a frigin joke.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook squarely in the mirror and ask yourself why all your presidents, vps and directors do not last more than a year or two.
