I worked at Mylan Inc full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Loved working here. I only left because my spouse was relocated. The salary is above average and the benefits are great. Both salary and benefits were the best of any company I have worked for.

    Cons

Some of the positions had a high turnover rate. Not sure why that is but there are some departments that went through staff over and over. The internal recruitment policy lacked transparency. Oftentimes an employee would apply for a position only to find out the job was already offered to someone else and the job was posted only because policy dictated it be done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My experience and time there was fantastic and I learned a lot. I would advise that the internal recruiting should be done with more transparency so that you do not end up applying for a job and potentially risking your reputation with your current department for a job that was not truly available.

Exciting and challenging with everyday being different. Nice to have bonuses, good benefits

    Cons

    Work/life balance is terrible
The same people are always getting promoted because they are all friends, very cliquey.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop squeezing your employees dry and actually hire more help and/or pay better salaries

Former Employee - Vice President in Pittsburgh, PA (US)

I worked at Mylan Inc full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Company has some excellent, dedicated employees who take pride in their efforts. For the majority of employees it is an excellent place to work. Benefits are very good, but the further you are away from senior management the better the opportunity is.

    Cons

Compensation is less than many comparables. Senior leadership has no concept of time - they put in long hours but much is wasted due to poor time management. The higher you ascend the better the pay, but senior leadership is "challenging" (there are other, less kind ways to say this). I would only recommend working here if you are not in a senior position. Or if you are a personal friend of the CEO.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider the concept of not micromanaging every effort of the senior employees who are assumably in place to make those decisions themselves. Learn time management. It will make you and everyone else more productive.
