Former Employee – worked at Myriad Genetics
Pros – The compensation and benefits offered at this company were terrific, especially for Salt Lake City. In a city with average low salaries, Myriad Genetics is a breath of fresh air. Time off was always granted for certain circumstances. Generally the people working here are fun and enjoyable people.
Cons – Management is horrible. Despite reporting record profits each year with the sound of a trump, there minimal, if any, raises or promotions within. The management never awards the hard working people, but always the brown-nosers that don't do much of anything. Teamwork is a must, but almost always, somebody drops the ball.
Advice to Senior Management – Award the hard workers. Take a close look at those in leadership positions and evaluate them based on their work quality. You will find that the majority of management is poor and unqualified personnel. Make those who make you rich happy, and they will be happy to work for you. Work morale is horrible and many people dread coming to work and dealing with their supervisors.

Former Employee – worked at Myriad Genetics
Pros – Great Co-workers and good environment to learn lab techniques and get your feet wet.
Cons – Poor compensation, inadequate management of employees. Low morale of employees due to management style and compensation.
Advice to Senior Management – Recognize that employees are part of Lean Thinking and not just cogs in a machine.

Former Employee – worked at Myriad Genetics
Pros – Work environment is friendly.
Everyone is willing to help each other out.
Benefits are great.
Great Location
Cons – Sometimes long hours are required, especially when on call.
A lot of team work required and some people don't do their part.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to listen to those that feed you information. Never forget to praise the hard work that some put in. Look for those not pulling their weight and get rid of them. There are many times when I have been in situations where I have had to cover for someone else simply because they didn't want to work.

Current Employee – been working at Myriad Genetics
Pros – Great industry to be in and the work Myriad does is very beneficial to the community and people we serve. Myriad is a very innovative company that has a lot of potential. Benefits are okay and stock is a great incentive if you stay long term. Friendly environment and good people trying to make a difference.
Cons – Mediocre pay unless you are in upper management. Salaries seem very top heavy as do the rewards, recognition and incentives. Company is VERY profitable yet they fail to recognize the employees for the work they do that has contributed to the success. Very poor morale in the laboratories and other areas mainly due to poor pay. No room for growth but if you are lucky enough to be promoted don't bank on a much of an increase in pay; just more work and responsibility without recognition or incentives. A very life/energy sucking career.
Advice to Senior Management – Recognize your employees and treat them as though you value them. Do not gloat about our record profits while continuing to pay poorly. Recognize talent and reward accordingly in hopes of retaining talent and boosting poor morale of employees.

Former Employee – worked at Myriad Genetics
Pros – Good pay, Industry Recognition in Women's Health
Cons – IT groups are very fragmented, A bit to much head strong personalities, Middle Management is hit and mis depending on who your working for. Technologies are reasonable but as a small company limited on spending
Advice to Senior Management – Work more on cross teaming culture

Former Employee – worked at Myriad Genetics
Pros – Salt Lake City is a great place to live
Cons – No career growth, Extremely slow promotion rate, promotions given on a 10% quota and tenure basis, not on merit. Management gives themselves 100 fold more stock options then mid level employees.
Advice to Senior Management – Promotions should be given on merit. Stock options should be more equally distributed to employees to incentivize them to actually work. The atmosphere mgmt has created breeds laziness, distrust, and bitterness

Current Employee – been working at Myriad Genetics
Pros – Benefits at the company are pretty good. Other companies I have worked have had similar benefits, but the benefits aren't bad. The stock options and stock are very important to utilize while working here (since the pay is horrible). The other employees are very generous and most people are willing to go the extra mile to help you.
I have learned many lab techniques and business skills from working here. I have definitely increased my knowledge and network as well. I would recommend this place more as a "stepping stone" to a new career or school.
Cons – The pay is very bad; it seems that upper management has a much higher salary and never has any desire to help out the people actually doing the work. Even people in positions where higher pay would be expected; people are not compensated accordingly. The only way to compensate for the lower pay was to work overtime, but now they have became tyrannical on working too much; thus no overtime is now the norm.
Recently, the company has begun posting record profits; but for some reason cannot give raises or promotions accordingly. It seems as if they do not care about the workers in the company. Many people in the company have very low morale and do not like their current position. Further, forget about getting a raise or promotion in the company. They will never give you one; every job transfer is always a lateral transfer, meaning the same pay is kept when moving departments. This means that one might end up with more work to do in their new job, but undeserved pay.
Advice to Senior Management – Do not forget about the workers in the company. Many people in the company are unhappy. I would suggest surveying the employees (anonymously of course) to see what their concerns are. There are many very intelligent people willing to improve the company if given the chance. Lastly be more competitive with salary and raises. Stock options and stock are not enough to compensate the workers in the company (remember we do not receive large amounts of either). But keep working on the benefits these are very nice and help out my family a lot. Thanks for the work you pretend to do.

Current Employee – been working at Myriad Genetics
Pros – The benefits are great. The stock options and stock purchase plan are a lifesaver.
Cons – I used to really love working at Myriad Genetics. Ever since the company became profitable (ie. the spin-off of Myriad Pharmaceuticals), the leadership of the company has been very poor. At the lower levels most people are very unhappy. The employee raises last year were cut roughly in half because of "the economy". Then the company reported a 77% profit increase.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop treating employees like there are replaceable. I know it's easy to get people to START working here, but the real talent is going to leave if treated like this.
