    Pros

Work environment is a top priority there at NCI Buildings. The quality of the management is A+, and so are the employees.

    Cons

There are not many things I can list here really, except to provide more open door when it comes to deadlines on projects.

    Advice to Management

Keep the environment fun yet professional, and your employees will reward you.

    Pros

the pros were the people you worked with everyday. most were actually genuine people.

    Cons

i am now unemployed and on unemployment. when i went in for unemployment they showed me what the average was that ny state unemployment thought i should of been making running a rollformer. it was $19,88 an hour to start. after 7 years i was still $5 an hour under that. and i ran two lines and was the lead machine operator in my area. management talks to employees and treats them as if they are children and will downgrade you to where you feel you are nothing. they expect you to stay til all the work is done no matter what time so if you have a family forget about them.

    Advice to Management

the leadership that is in there now needs a lesson in how to treat as they say Valued Employees.

    Pros

My coworkers are amazing. They treat me like family and value my input. It makes coming to work an enjoyable experience. The company has phenomenal benefits which the company pays a good portion of. The pay is reasonable and there's plenty of room for advancement. They have a reasonable expectation when it comes to work-life balance. They really work hard to make quality improvements to make things better for the employees.

    Cons

Taking time off in the first 90 days is very challenging, but do-able if you're willing to be flexible.

    Advice to Management

I would love to see a PTO program replace the sick and vacation time policy. It would allow more flexibility for the employees.

    Pros

NCI is a great company to work for. I always admire at its enthusiasm in implementing new technology. It allows the company to increase the employee's productivity and to improve the job satisfaction at the same time.

    Cons

Company relies heavily on conventional wisdom rather than trying to understand/implent the industry's best practices.

    Advice to Management

There is still lot of opportunity for the company to use Industry's best practices in many areas like quality, project management. Why always come up with your own customized unique solution when there is a proven best practice methodology?

    Pros

41K, medical, vision, scholarship but you must stay for 3 years to pay it back.

    Cons

Lack of carrer path program. Most people stay in one same position for life.

    Advice to Management

Get a management or MBA diploma and get prepared to perform management and supervisory functions – such as employee recruiting, labor relations, employee performance monitoring and evaluation, and employing motivation and problem solving techniques.

    Pros

They paid well and west Houston location convienent.

    Cons

Not enough IT staff to cover the company's needs. Too many VPs and President demanding immediate satisfaction at the expense of production. Be prepared to work like a galley slave and pick up others jobs because coworkers are too overworked to perform their full range of duties.

    Advice to Management

You need more IT staff to cover the various sites. To have one full timer to cover a plant the size of a small college plus three other remote sites along with executive support for a number of VPs borders on both insanity and bad business. To expect a new hire who you failed to convey the full background and breadth of the job to immediately pick up where a senior employee (who caved in under the workload and fled) left off borders on malicious hiring.

    Pros

Good benefits, nice people to work with. Company has been around a long time and will invest in new technology to try and stay ahead of the competition.

    Cons

They hire too many upper management people and lay off middle managment creating high levels of stress for those workers.

    Advice to Management

Don't hire so many Senior Managers. They just create more work for the few mid-level managers that are left after layoffs or replacing mid-level managers with clerical staff.

    Pros

Even though NCI is a billion dollar company, proud to say that because most of upper management were once the blue collar workers of the company, there is still a humble feel.

    Cons

Due to the economic crash of 2008 company is suffering and will take to truly profit to full potential

    Advice to Management

Some need to open minds to new ideas and tactics to advance inner talent.
