I have been working at NIKE part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Family environment and the employee discount is out of this world. The athletes are very motivating. The product is always new and fresh. Never gonna get bored with your surroundings.

    Cons

Constantly innovating so things can change very quickly. You must be adaptable in the retail environment. Make sure the line communication between management and yourself is open. The late policy is pretty strict and calling out is frowned upon heavily.

    I worked at NIKE

    Pros

If you are looking to be part of the greatest athletic brand in the world, then Nike is the place for you. The business formula at Nike is quite simple. Beautiful and innovative apparel, footwear and gear lines that do not disappoint the customer and which are easy to sell due to quality, price and style. Beautiful working environments in the form of the Nike storefronts. Walking into work each day is a proud moment. Everything is impeccably displayed and great pride is taken by Nike team members to keep it that way, both at closing and throughout the work day. Great team spirit and camaraderie. Health benefits day 1, great employee discounts on already discounted shoes, apparel and gear.

    Cons

The hours are very long and a very high level of fitness is required due to standing on one's feet all day, and the constant high energy needed to keep pace with customer service requests and product delivery throughout a work day. A work day at Nike retail can be as long as 12 hours door to door.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Higher more college graduates at the retail level and pay them accordingly. Create a balance by rewarding top non-collegiate performers monetarily rather than just through employee of the month photo ops pasted in the lunchroom. Nike can afford it and the return on the investment will be huge, both production wise and for staff motivation, respect and morale.
