I worked at Nationwide Financial full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The employee benefits package is excellent, leadership, is very supportive of individual needs, and compensation is just average.

    Cons

No real opportunities for advancement because management positions rarely open and when they do they will consider individuals with management experience first. It is also difficult to change career paths in the organization.

I worked at Nationwide Financial as a contractor

    Pros

The company has many contractors who work there for long-term. Also, management balances the number of FTEs and contractors on a projects. The reason behind the balance is more than just budget.

    Cons

For starters the company does not pay non-management full-time employees (FTE) well. Their performance evaluation is skewed. I have worked with many excellent FTEs who were rated as fair (2 out of 5) while incompetent FTEs were recognized and promoted. Because many FTEs are not recognized for the excellence, they become competitive and vile towards contractors. The reason for this is because the company cultivates a negative culture towards contractors. The company goes out of their way to make a distinction between FTEs and contractors.
