Pros – Good place to work and grow your career. There are opportunities to individuals to lead multiple projects. It's not the place for those that just do their job. This is a place for people who want to lead and excel.
Cons – Government pressure with sequestration. As with many big companies, bureaucracy and procedures can get in the way at times.

Current Employee – been working at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than a year
Pros – Location, opportunities, benefits, education assistance, pay, the value of having a well-known name next to yours.
Cons – Difficulty transitioning within the company from one position to another, a mixture of high achievers & slackers (80/20 rule applies here)...nothing out of the ordinary.
Advice to Senior Management – Come together...right now...over me.

Former Employee – worked at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – The most exciting, interesting technology I've ever worked on, with some of the sharpest people
Cons – Large bureaucracy, and the ultimate boss driving the bureacracy is congress, the most fickle and near-sighted customer you can imagine.
Advice to Senior Management – * use and contribute to open source projects to get the latest and greatest capabilities
* use knowledgebases, not wikis and forums
* use company-wide VCS for all documents and software

Former Employee – worked at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – -Friendly work environment. My co-workers, along with my manger were a pleasure to work with.
-Professional Organization. In regards to the values of the organization, NGC is great. They really do strive to be a top-tier organization.
-Good medical benefits and 401K plan.
Cons – -Hard to move up. Moving up the corporate ladder if only easy if you work at one of the main campuses.
-Pay raises are minimal.
-Constant concerns of labor shortages and lay-offs. For the last couple of years they have had numerous rounds of lay-offs. This greats, as you can image a high level of anxiety among the work force.

Former Employee – worked at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – - Pretty easy to stand out
- Lots of career opportunities
- Very good locations
- Excellent work/life balance (not much night shift)
- It's pretty hard to lose your job there
- Bleeding Edge product offerings
Cons – - Way too many layers of management
- Way too many managers at each level
- Management Oversight is too high on contract proposals; NG can't compete well as a result
- Transferring out of a department is difficult if you don't have someone pulling you
- It's better to look good than to be good
- Raises are the same whether you're Extremely Effective or Extremely Ineffective
- They lag upgrading personal workstations (For instance, I was upgraded from Windows 95 to Windows 2000 long after Windows XP was available)
Advice to Senior Management – Please consider process improvement initiatives for the support functions - not just manufacturing. The true opportunities for cutting costs exists in evaluating what is really necessary to support your shop floor. Keep a watchful eye on management's "Empire Building".
