I worked at Party City full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I worked for the company for five years. Great working with the public and great staff working for me.

    Cons

I was a general manager and from the district manager up no support, with very little direction. Work a ton of hours with very little rewards. Only saleried employee in building so everything falls to one person.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With the amount of hours put in during Halloween by the gm a extra days off after season or a bonus just based on Halloween numbers would have been great.

I have been working at Party City part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

A lot of the people I work with are fantastic and we all work together very well. Some of the customers are amazing and make working much easier. Decent pay. When it comes down to it, the job really isn't that bad until Halloween rolls around.

    Cons

Some customers are disrespectful and expect the world. Working Halloween means staying until 1AM on school nights a lot. The managers do not care about your life outside of work and will schedule you whenever they feel like it. The work is a little tedious at times but isn't ever challenging. Halloween is worse than Black Friday.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow the laws when it comes to breaks. I shouldn't be working 6 hours straight without getting a break. Pay attention to the high school students you hire. If you don't care about how much work they have to do for school, don't hire so many students.

I have been working at Party City part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

This job fits in great with my school schedule and 30% isn't to bad either .

    Cons

They require you to answer the phone even if you have a giant line in front of you .The company Is also to nosy .They make you sign stupid voids after a certain percent ,so you hope customers don't change their mind or you don't make a mistake ringing people up. The pay kind of sucks ,it makes you not want to stay .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give higher starting pay to employees and maybe they will stay more after Halloween .

I worked at Party City as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

For seasonal, Party City is pretty good. Its fast-paced and you have to be willing to hustle. The managers are great and they work with you.

    Cons

The customers tend to be very rude. Cleaning up after hours is pretty rough, seeing as we had to mop the entire store floor with windex at the time being.

I have been working at Party City part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good managers, Fun place to work at, flexible hours. You pick up a lot of hours during Halloween if you are normally part time. 30% discounts on all items. Good place to gain experience as a first job

    Cons

Mostly minimum pay workers. Too cheap to buy new equipment for workers (registers are very old) Very busy during Halloween

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being so cheap on things, pay to have the lights on for storage instead of using extension cords to just some lights. Also if party city wants to last, they are going to need to stop paying their workers minimum wage and start paying them a little higher

    Pros

The people I worked with were great.

    Cons

Hours and pay were pathetic. But, it met my expectations of retail having low pay and pathetic hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Should really consider more time and hours for hourly employees.
