I gained profound knowledge of customer service and sales.

Sales Associate (Former Employee)
Tampa, FL (US)

I worked at Pier 1 Imports part-time for more than a year

ProsWorking at Pier 1 Imports allowed me to be creative and design rooms around key pieces in the store. My co-workers were wonderful and taught me how to appease clients and close sales. I was also very good at opening new accounts and making sure that our clients were using it on a monthly basis.

ConsChallenges were having to wake up very early twice a week to help with stock at 5am. I never complained, but lifting items and furniture for 5 or 6 hours at a time was really tough.

Fantastic

Retail Associate (Current Employee)
Staten Island, NY (US)

I have been working at Pier 1 Imports part-time for less than a year

ProsFriendly, Fun, Good discount. Overall its a great place to work and shop! I am a huge fan of it! I reccomend it to anyone looking for part time work.

ConsOnly real negatives, it is part-time. Only 4 hours a week. And the stock room could be a little unorganized at times which makes it difficult to do your job as well as you would like.

Fun and exciting place to work!

Store Manager (Former Employee)
Norwalk, CT (US)

I worked at Pier 1 Imports full-time for more than 5 years

ProsThe product is fun, people within the company really care and want to know what you think and have to offer!

ConsThe training over the years that I had been there had improved. The physical expectations are a little demanding, as in scheduled expectations...seasonal floor sets all done during off hours while the store is closed. If you work retail and have an understanding of it than you would be able to handle it. Once you hit the SM level its difficult to keep working your way up unless you are OK with having no life as a DM.

Great Company!

Sales Associate (Former Employee)
Cincinnati, OH (US)

I worked at Pier 1 Imports part-time for more than 5 years

ProsI worked for a Pier 1 for almost 6 years, and I loved every minute of it. I thought that the managers did a great job of scheduling fairly and letting people have the day off for events. Also, Pier 1 is great to employees--store discount can be used on sale and clearance items, you get a bonus at Christmas, and every now and then, there are little giveaways at the store meetings. Would highly recommend this company for anyone looking for good part-time work.

ConsMust be able to climb ladders, move and build furniture, and carry heavy objects.
