Current Employee – been working at Portugal Telecom
Pros – Flexible working time. Some free food.
Cons – They care more about psychology than technical expertise when they are a technical company.
Advice to Senior Management – Alcino, care more about technical expertise and less about psychology. A programmer is not the same as a human resources employee.

Former Employee – worked at Portugal Telecom
Pros – One of the biggest portuguese companies woriking in Portugal
Offers great sense of security to its workers
One of the main employers in Portugal
Biggest telco in the country
Good people to work with
Cons – Big company means many levels in the hierarchy
Even though it's a strong company, it's not paying the best salaries
No career development plans at the time I left
Advice to Senior Management – Mostly their work is very good, managing to remain atop on a complicated market situation and still creating new opportunities.
However, some of the company's tallent is being put to waste with a difficult development of career.

Current Employee – been working at Portugal Telecom
Pros – Professional development and growth; largest telecoms company in Portugal with strong presence in Africa, Brasil and East Timor, which potencialy allows for an international work experience; innovative and dinamic company.
Cons – Very heavy structure, which sometimes may generate a gab between middle and higher management and the full grasp of company's goals and objectives; large disparity of salaries between employees that came from the old public structure and recent employees; can be very extremely demanding in what concerns allowing employees to balance personal life and career.
Advice to Senior Management – Management should incentive better balance between personal life and working time. They should also make more efforts to balance salaries between middle management based on merits.

Current Employee – been working at Portugal Telecom
Pros – Large Company, strong leadership!
Overall a good place to work but if you want to reach top places be sure your properly connected!
Cons – It's like a large oil tanker! If you want to change direction you must do it plenty of time ahead!
Highly concorrential market with tendency to revenue and market share decrease.
Advice to Senior Management – Invest outside Portugal, make PT grow! Don't spend it all in shareholder dividends and aditional revenues. Grow or get swallowed!

Current Employee – been working at Portugal Telecom
Pros – The company is financially very stable.
You may have the opportunity to work in big projects.
Big recognized name in market
As far as I know, there is generally a good work environment between colleagues.
Cons – The main problem is the old-fashioned management culture of seeing almost everything as numbers, excel sheets, and so on... That kind of policies make employees somtimes feel as disposable.
It is said that people are the most important thing but in practice lots of people don't feel the same. I guess this is what happens at most of big companies that exist for a long time (except some very recent ones).
Advice to Senior Management – Improve HR practices, stop looking at numbers and start listening to people, introduce real empowerment policies...
