Current Employee - Principal Consultant in Calcutta
Current Employee - Principal Consultant in Calcutta

I have been working at PwC full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

One gets exposures to challenging situations that are not normally available at that level in other companies. A lot of work related autonomy is given. Work from home and other flexible benefits are available. With less structure, there's more flexibility to decide on one's career path

    Cons

Absence of structure leads to career stagnancy for many. With no planned growth path, one is often at the mercy of one's bosses in terms of career movement. With less formal processes in place, earlier, there used to be a major nepotism which thankfully is less nowadays with more accountability of top management with the advent of time sheet compliance, WIP based costing, and stricter debt write off measures.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Times have rapidly changed in the last decade and is very very different from when you were mid level managers. So, unfortunately, the directives and advice from the top management often seem outdated and out-of-sync

I worked at PwC as an intern (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Learning opportunities, Great team spirit and work culture, No unnecessary hierarchies, bosses treat you like friends, Good for networking - big clients and big assignments

    Cons

Poor work life balance is the major disadvantage in working for PWC or any other big 4 firms with working late nights almost every other day and weekends. There is high attrition due to the same.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Issue of work life balance needs to be addressed

I worked at PwC full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Work life balance is good. Colleagues are helpful and they possess good technical knowledge. Work is ok in software development. Scope of learning is average. Small teams. So you have more ownership. You get to know things end to end. Annual parties.

    Cons

Lack of good quality clients. Due to some policy, the company in India can not approach US UK clients. Thus opportunity of travelling these places is less. Most of the clients are domestic clients. You may have to travel a lot inside the country, depending on your client's base location. Salary increment is less. Appraisal process is not great. Scope of learning new technology is less.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Technology consulting has a lot more potential.

I have been working at PwC full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

PwC SDC (Slave Delivery Center) is a typical body shopping company. They are only concerned with per hour billing, Highly unethical and selfish Management. Here they treat employees as Donkeys and believe that anyone can do anything (Developer is made to do DTP , Testing work).

    Cons

At PwC SDC(Slave Delivery Center) there is no training's provided. Employees are the product whom they sell to make revenue. The more an Employee (Donkey) can be billed the happier the management. They bill one resource for 16 hrs/day on different projects and pay employees peanuts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop Master Slave work culture and treat Employees not like Donkey. After all these so called Employees (donkey) earn and provide you bread and butter. Give Professional respect to Employees.
