    Pros

Reed Expo, the US- based division I worked for, is a leader in the exhibition and trade show space. This organization is strong at understanding the important touch points of a myriad of industries.

    Cons

For many industries, Reed Expo's lack of authenticity and foreword-thinking activities hamper their effectiveness in that particular segment.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to work to understand that an industry event is more than just the specific days during which the trade show is held.

    Pros

They offer good benefits and (for my profession) very good compensation based on geographical location. Leadership within my group was good.

    Cons

Overall company leadership was lacking. They fail to adequately value their employees. Perhaps this is just how it is with Big Business, but moral consistently dropped over the course of my 7.5 years there.

    Advice to Management

    Value your people.

    Pros

the workers and managers including many executives were strong and valuable players in Internet business and marketing.

    Cons

CEO was only focused on selling the unit. The other senior executives were strong, but were not given the freedom to grow the business for the long term.
The division I worked had a poor business model - the model was to sell it.

    Advice to Management

don't move so quickly into a new market that you're not willing to commit time, money and resources because you played with many people's lives when the organization was closed.

    Pros

Lots of resources and opportunities to learn new technologies.

    Cons

When I was there, salary was very low (about 60% of what it should be). This doesn't matter now as the company has entered into a JV and been gutted.

    Pros

Current technologies, great co-workers, decent benefits.

    Cons

The use of mass layoffs to improve the bottom line.

    Advice to Management

Control the corporate rumor mill, most employees knew layoffs were coming weeks in advance.

    Pros

Excellent benefits package, including time off for volunteer work, access to e-Learning is included. Outstanding people to work with, very smart and focused. Would recommend as long as you're in a "hub" city

    Cons

If you don't work in one of the major hubs you are left out of a lot of things, and they seem to be closing a lot of satellite offices regardless of size.

    Pros

The work is really stress free and the people you work are very helpful since the average tenure is about 15 years and so they have lots of info to share.

    Cons

There are occasional layoff seasons and I've seen two seasons in my 1 years working there.

    Advice to Management

Hire more young and innovative employees to build in house products as opposed to buying licenses and software that can be replaced with open source products.

    Pros

Great environment, learned about many different functions and divisions. The work space was redesigned and improved allowing for better meetings and a more enjoyable atmosphere

    Cons

Not much growth opportunity. There seemed to be a high turnover rate with many of the employees having worked there for a very short period of time.
