Good people but bureaucratic environment

Financial Specialist (Former Employee)
Shreveport, LA (US)

I worked at Regions Financial full-time for more than a year

ProsPromotes within. Great support for employees. Great retirement.

ConsCrazy vacation policy. Must plan all days off one year in advance and can only be off on Friday twice per year. Can not be off on the same holiday two years in a row. And it goes on and on.... hopefully they will consider changing that policy.

Advice to Senior ManagementVacation policy stinks. It will deter quality candidates from choosing Regions as their work place. Consider revising.

I have been working at Regions Financial full-time for more than 8 years

ProsFreedom of schedule and time. Great footprint in growing southern markets.

ConsBonuses are subject to change without any notice. Usually to the downside despite your record setting performance.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay what you promise based on goals and objectives. Don't change it if the number get too big.

Teller

Teller (Former Employee)
Miami Beach, FL (US)

I worked at Regions Financial full-time for less than a year

ProsMost people I encountered were great to work with. The hours are good and there are ample opportunities for advancement.

ConsThe salary is on the low side and having to work one Saturday out of the month is a little annoying. Also, I'm not sure if every branch does this, but the weekly meetings drag on far too long and really intrude on your personal time. I also didn't like the sales quota system for referrals and new accounts.

Great group of people to work with but growing with the company leaves something to be desired.

Senior Teller (Current Employee)
Plant City, FL (US)

I have been working at Regions Financial full-time for more than 5 years

ProsFantastic employees! Never have I worked with such a large group of people and gotten along with all of them before! They hire in some talented people. Lots of focus on being a team player.

ConsPay raises are ridiculously small and managers are instructed not to give good reviews to justify this.
Not enough pay when offered promotions. (Offered $1000 extra per YEAR to take on a job with much more responsibility, stress and headaches. Tuppence!)
Random customer reviews play too large a role.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop closing branches and upping sales and referral goals, making it impossible for low level employees to reach bonuses while lining your own pockets with millions in bonuses! (12 million Mr. Hall? Really?) Living Regions values is part of our evaluation as an employee. Hold yourself to the same standard. Do what is right means from a moral standpoint, not do what is right for the shareholders only.

– I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
