I have been working at Regis Corporation part-time for less than a year

Pros – great people good training opportunities

Cons – minimum wage no chances to advance unless your lucky enough to have a clientele started out with 36 hours soon cut to 26. more accurately 20 or less since we get sent home early if it is not busy. lots of hours spent sitting. walk-ins are somewhat common not enough to keep all 10 of us busy. take walk-ins on a priority basis whoever is most successful first so if you are new good luck getting any walk-ins unless they are nice enough to throw you a bone. you get written up for everything even if you were on lunch for a little too long by accident. we are expected to always stay busy and if not write up.

Advice to Senior Management – I would like some people from upper management to come down to stylist level for a week and see how easy it is to make it and survive on minimum wage. its getting very difficult to pay bills and buy food especially for a single parent or single job family.

Pros – Stable, dependable employment. Pleasant work environment, easy access to work location.

Cons – Work can be challenging, due to outdated technology

Advice to Senior Management – I think the new management is on the right track. Employees should be first in a service industry.

Pros – supportive corporate office,educational opportunites,skilled coworkers, positive environment with potential to grow,vacation pay

Cons – health care and salary cap, some mid level management needs to be trained more to be effective

Pros – It seems like the new management in IT is ready to leverage newer technologies that have been under-utilized over the last decade. Why are we using Lotus Notes 8.5

Cons – Older technology (hardware and software). Understaffed IT area makes it difficult to get timely responses to hardware and software requests. Too many different systems - total lack of integration.

Pros – unlimited free education, incentives to win trips, tools etc. guaranteed wage, performance based promotions, health insurance, 401k, stock, college savings plan. up to date on trends and trained in how to do them. Regis does offer promotions to higher commission and job titles and prices but its based on performance. This shows if you work hard and are dedicated to exceptional customer service you can succeed in this business but it takes time, patience and perseverance. They are also one of the few companys that reward their employees for loyalty in number of years with them and they can move on to be educators, artistic directors, managers, mentors and platform artists.

Cons – if you don't want to work hard to promote yourself and at times step outside your comfort zone this may not be the right fit for you.

Advice to Senior Management – always be engaged with your salon managers and accessible to your stylists.

Pros – family oriented good, very good work and life balance

Cons – need better leadership although it seems that it is getting better than before.

Pros – I've heard good things about Regis, and have a lot of friends that work at some of their other chains that love it, but this one was messed up! The only pro is that I got to do the job I went to school to do.

Cons – Management didn't know what the heck they were doing. only 7.25/hr plus tips (you dont claim cash tips, card tips come out of your check, most people tipped on cards though). too many staff for the traffic that came in. not enough hours per person. wouldn't let me take vacation time to visit my (now husband, fiance at the time) in texas, in the air force, for more than 3 days (it takes a little over a day to actually drive here, so that'd mean spending one day with him). Also, my first week they wouldnt let me cut hair until I watched all the training videos, and they left me all alone to close at night. So they left me watching videos, and told me to turn away anyone who came in wanting a haircut because I was still training. ?

Advice to Senior Management – Regional managers : don't just move someone up to management because you need to fill the spot. Bring someone else who is experienced and responsible in.
Store managers: Know what you're doing. Don't leave because you just dont want to work anymore.
Dont have your boyfriend sitting in there with you the whole time.

Pros – This is a company that has been through alot, but there are alot of people here that believe in the future and can see that in time things will be better. In fact it's already starting. The new CEO and other new leaders are creating a vision and path, and sharing it with the organizaion, so there are more common goals in place.

There are alot of great career opportunities and in many cases a place to grow your career.

Employees here have a great passion for what they do.

Cons – Unfortunately, the struggles they have had in the past have caused some really good people to leave. But the continuing building is back on.

Advice to Senior Management – Stay focused, and continue to communicate!

The company really supports their stylists/ managers

Cons – The hours can be long during holidays...but the pay makes up for it!
