I have been working at Rent-A-Center full-time
Pros – The money is what keeps people there. They offer above average money in areas where unemployment is high and wages are low.
Cons – The hours are ridiculous and work environment is terrible. You get yelled at every day by District Managers, make you work on your day off every week.
Advice to Senior Management – Re structure field teams
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at Rent-A-Center full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Always get paid on time. Very hard to get fired
Cons – They preach work/home life balance yet it never happens. They'll take your days off away. They tell you that you have to work late all the time. Vacations they don't wan you to take them and limit times and dates they are available and if you don't use them you lose them. 2 sick days a year. There is no respect for family or home life. 30 minute lunches and constant questions when an employee is coming back from their breaks or asking them to take payments or calls during their lunch.
Advice to Senior Management – Taking the pressure off for mass delivery numbers and get quality deliveries. Renting a former skip stolen just to show growth for a quarter is not the way to look a the future. The one week payment over writing off 500 plus dollars does not make sense. We understand that management bustets for losses, but knowingly giving our merchandise away is not business smart. Asking the sales department to telemarket the same 300 people every week is insane. I've had a least 30 customers say they don't want mail or phone calls every week that its harassment. Don't plan customer appreciation or friends and family days two weeks in advance. Actually take the time to market and budget for it. And don't ever ask customers to donate prizes. Learning how to advertise correctly would be a great bonus. I live 3 miles from a store and I get flyers from every competitor but my own store, our store only sends out to our current and former customers. I'd hire a proof reader for internal memos. There are plenty of spelling and grammar mistakes that is unprofessional. Give employees a few more paid days off a year. Show them you appreciate how hard they work. Dealin with customers who don't want to pay, lie, steal, and verbally abuse staff on a daily basis does take a toll both physically and mentally. I understand our customers are not always the most crafty of consumers but raising the 90 day same as cash and extending terms does not help them own it sooner. Think about long term care so our customers repeat using us instead of harassing them with mailers and sales calls.

I have been working at Rent-A-Center full-time for more than a year
Pros – Paid Weekly
2 weeks paid vacation.
nothing else have to fill 5 words.
Cons – Everything. You will be treated like garbage, management has no grasp of anything been there for almost 2 years, if it wasn't for personal goals, its a job to fill the time till something better comes. DO NOT EVER WORK HERE!
Benefits are 100 a WEEK for 2 people, family of 4 is 140 a WEEK so working 50+ hours you are still broke.
Advice to Senior Management – Management has no concept of how the store actually runs, Numbers are not everything, spend some time in the store and see how it runs.

I worked at Rent-A-Center full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Having a job is better than not having one.
That's it.
Cons – Everything else.
Most stores being decimated by the economy, say goodbye to that bonus check.
No life outside of work. 50+ hour work weeks.
Dumbing yourself down to deal with both customers and employees.
Racist customers. Was called "white devil" more than once, to which I let loose the "n word" as loud as I could.
Guns pulled on me twice on repossessions.
Corporate "What have you done for me lately?" mentality. Your history doesn't matter, only your numbers today / this week.
Advice to Senior Management – Change the manager compensation back to 5% of store profit.

I have been working at Rent-A-Center full-time
Pros – Decent Pay; Employee purchase program; benefits
Cons – Looong hours; Unatainable standards at times; constant back-stabbing; lazy store managers
Advice to Senior Management – Look at company standards. Should be standards based on location, not overall companywide standards. Stores should be held to different delivery standards based on economic situations where they are located. Also, having all these contests for store managers and none for the Assistants or CAR's is pointless because they are the ones who do 90% of the work in most stores, so why should they benefit when there are four or five other individuals doing all the work? A store managers role is NOT to simply sit back, relax and watch the show. It is to lead by example.

I have been working at Rent-A-Center full-time for less than a year
Pros – Promotion is almost guaranteed
48+ hours a week
One week day and every Sunday off
Paid every week
Cons – Lots of lifting
Employers constantly making you feel like your job is on the line
48+ hours a week
Paid 9.75 for the first 4 months then it jumps to 10
CARs make 10.00, Assistant Managers make 10.50, Lead Assistants make 11.35.
Not every store has a lead assistant
Advice to Senior Management – Better pay for these girls and guys that go out and make sure you get your money and merchandise.

I have been working at Rent-A-Center full-time for more than a year
Pros – Steady paycheck every week. Benefits
Cons – Long hours (48-50) every week. Pay isn't great for what you are required to do, you have no time for family or relationships, you have to go into disgusting houses, Get ready to be lied to everyday by customers. No incentives to sell. If you have a happy life then say no to working here.
