    I have been working at Republic Services full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Republic Services as a corporation, seems to be well respected in the industry and the communities we serve. 30,000 employees strong, allows us to offer our employees a benefits package that is a little more rewarding. "Words" show there is a great opportunity to grow and advance your career with Republic Services.

    Cons

    The lack of Leadership! The lack of basic skills such as follow through, communication and teambuilding.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Please! Look in the mirror and ask yourself "Am I a LEADER or a Manager?" If you are a LEADER, then Mobilize yourself from your cozy offices in Phoenix get out into your hauling divisions and talk with your drivers and frontline supervisors. Take some supervisors and drivers to lunch (not hand picked by local management either) and actually listen to what is being said. Being held captive in the General Managers office, drinking the home made cool aid, is not going to lead Republic Services to success. Any of us that are true leaders, know that our actions, actions, actions are what defines us and what will gain our employees trust and commitment to follow. Lies, false promises, "do what I say not as I do" undefined direction an mixed messages, under a dictatorship will deliver results in a short term. What casualties will there be along the way, what durability will there be long term, what happened to the man that sowed his seeds and they fell on rocky ground where there was not much soil, immediately it sprang up, since it had no depth of soil. When the sun rose, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away. Is this what we want our legacy, the future of our company to be "short term success"? If you are a MANAGER "collecting a pay check", McDonalds is hiring!

    I worked at Republic Services full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    The benefits were decent but cost more than I would have liked. Mostly a Monday through Friday position but some Saturdays are required if a holiday falls during the week.

    Cons

    The hours were terrible. We would start at 5:30am with no idea of when we would get off. I never worked one week below 50 hours and overtime is calculated by your production rate so they can pay you less the more you work. Management is clueless about what is actually going on in the field but insisted on micromanaging your entire day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pay a fair wage and listen to what your drivers are telling you

    Pros

    Some locations have a great culture. Relaxed dress code. Decent sick and vacation policies. Advancement is possible.

    Cons

    Limited bonus potential and some locations are not team players. To advance, you must be willing to transfer to the corporate office. Pay seems lower than competitors. As with most large companies, innovation can be slow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Evaluate managers of all teams. Great leaders produce great results. Poor leaders produce excuses.

    Great personalities, strong sales talent, relaxed atmosphere at the office

    Cons

    Management is horrible. Never seen operations so inefficient and unwilling to take care of the customer. Everyone is always frustrated that they can't get the help they need. Management always making things too complicated and throwing people under the bus for anything under the sun. Unrealistic expectations, no desire to take care of the customers. It takes them 2 weeks to make a five minute decision.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Let the reps take care of their customers! Funny how back when the microscpe wasn't on giving credits or expenses how well the company thrived and everyone made money. Now things are so tight everyone is afraid of asking to take care of their customer.

    Great company to work for and benefits with good pay.

    Cons

    The location i worked had politics going on were if you were an hard working employee you didnt get rewarded but if lied on your reports and fudged your numbers and just lied they loved you. Seem to me the HR and Location Manager were in on things they protected the bad employees and punished the good ones guess thats why they have a high turnover of Employee's.

    have nothing good to say. i get a check every week. that's about it.

    Cons

    They dim your light here, instead of making it shine brighter. they smash that light bulb on the floor and step all over it to make sure that it will NEVER try to light again.
     i have applied to multiple positions within the company and each and every time, I do not get it. No one explains why, nor the tell you what you can do to qualify.
