    Pros

I have been working at Rowan Companies as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Team work is a big plus at Rowan. I was always able to go into any department and find answers that i needed without feeling as if I were in a competition.

    Cons

I really can't say that i had any cons. I had an awesome boss and great colleagues to work with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the great work. Rowan is a company that is 91 yrs and growing. Although the industry is hurting right now I see no reason for rowan to fail. they are a strong nit and frugal company and i know they won't take this lightly.

I have been working at Rowan Companies

    Pros

Half days Fridays, nine paid holidays and two floating holidays

    Cons

No movement. Upper management is heavy. There's a lack of communication from the Director level on down.

I have been working at Rowan Companies (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Safety, Training, Mentorship, Career Growth Potential. Good pay. Good benefits package.Challenging work atmosphere.

    Cons

Sad that Rowan had to transition to match the rest of the modern industry. The retirement package (pension plan) and lack of lay-offs (decades of history) made it a special "family" to work for and with. I will always be grateful for my time with the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maintain the philosophy of "A Premier Product for a Premier Price". Continue to invest in your employees: not only in compensation packages, but in training and career growth/advancement potential.

I have been working at Rowan Companies full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great opportunities for advancement, if you are dedicated, hardworking. Lots of upper operations management have many years of experience in the field. Company values are as solid as can be.

    Cons

No major cons, but like all companies, there are some. If you want better pay, perks, or improvements........look in the mirror, because it's all up to YOU.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Field personnel want to see more of upper management, been that way for many years.

I worked at Rowan Companies as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Down-to-earth, sensible people working hard to deliver offshore resources. A great team built primarily / historically on merit-based promotions awarded to folks who started at the bottom.

    Cons

None, really. They treated me well and provided the opportunity for a self-directed Internship, for which I am very grateful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recommend focusing more on military veteran recruitment and retention.

I worked at Rowan Companies full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Decent Salary and decent work hours.

    Cons

Lack of true leadership in several departments. More managers than actual leaders.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Rowan Companies need to train their managers how to be leaders and remove unfit managers from their positions. Prior experience needs should be considered when determining positions within the company.
