    Pros

    SITA is a key player in the Air Transport Industry, this is an very technically broad environment that offers a variety of challenges. They are an innovator in some key areas but are not fully leveraging their capabilities. They offer a good work-life balance, and decent opportunities (though these may be influenced by geographical region). Management is supportive but focused more intently on foreign markets, at least at the point in time (2010) that I left the company.

    Cons

    The Air Transport Industry is evolving and in recent years the growth has been in off-shore emerging markets in contrast to North America which is a rather mature market. This means that opportunities may be reduced for N. American employees. This is a reality, not a negative in regard to SITA. Compensation was Fair to Attractive with a reasonable bonus plan. Benefits are average/typical and Company Values are good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Invest in North America as new technologies bring new opportunities, even in mature markets. Otherwise, keep providing a good workplace with strong ethics and an interesting work environment.

    Pros

    Few peers, good products, international environment, travel opportunities, multicultural day-to-day routine, influence in the market

    Cons

    Horrible local (Brazil) work environment, too much bureaucratic, terrible country leadership, lack of internal cooperation to face external challenges and competition, corruption is impregnated in all levels inside the company, nasty place to work

    Change upper management now! It's killing the firm locally

    Pros

    Stability, nothing else to add. Global environment. Diversity of products and solutions.

    Cons

    Poor leadership management; way too much politics ; inefficient system to reward high performers; salary increase every couple of years and can be as low as 2%. Very cheap company in regards to standard employees, with no serious interest nor investment in employees further education.

    Pros

    Small knit organization at the Long Island Site, intimate settings, people are friendly. Once a month PIZZA, Friday Bagel days. There is a great work life balance, per being able to get things done if need be in the time of an emergency. Flexible work hours.

    Cons

    Not the work environment for you if you get offended easily. Lacks diversity, predominantly men. Can be cliche per groups who work with each other, despite the fact the building is small, everyone does not know everyone, able to put a face to a name.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The politics of promotions, salaries, high and fire need to be a little more discreet.

    Unique in it's products and seeks excellence in it's services to the world airline industry.

    Cons

    The Finance Function, is unfortunately, not in line with the rest of SITA functions.

    Advise to the Finance Senior Management to halt the micro management and pay more attention to more important things.

    Descent co-workers. A couple of OK benefits.

    Cons

    Being asked to hide things from the customer and being disciplined if you don't. Management. Parking. Hours. Pay.

    You can't give advice to corrupt people that condone and nurture corruption.

    Pros

    If you get onto the right project it is a fantastic place to learn, paid education if you will. If your even luckier again and get into one of the clique teams then your socializing habits and alcohol tolerance will go through the roof! Salary is good to start off with if you come in at a good rate but don't expect it to change...ever.

    Management reward talent with promotions, the only problem is that talent means somebody 'in the clique'. Nepotism is rife in some offices.

    You'll get to do a bit of travel along the way if you like that sort of thing.

    Cons

    Management are 10 years behind the curve. Senior development, architecture and hr managers are in bed with each other...literally. If you don't comply to their archaic methods your a lost soul.

    General atmosphere in most offices is that of dissatisfaction. Any good people leave and are replaced by juniors/grads/contractors who in turn leave when they figure the place out and the cycle continues.

    Alcohol abuse is rife in one office in particular.

    Quit, those that don't should be sacked.

    Pros

    Many learning opportunities.
    Benefits and pay are good especially vacation and bonuses.

    Cons

    Competency and vision is not retained. Many of the best people move on to opportunities elsewhere as they see the corporate trend to outsource as much as possible.

    Pros

    Excellent benefits: Medical, pension, leave, performance bonus, individual growth and career development programs are a definite plus point for any employee. Pleasant working environment.

    Cons

    Personal career growth can be a problem in smaller SITA locations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Employee rewards program should apply to all staff from all levels, even contractors who are employed by SITA for a number of years.
