I worked at Santarus full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fantastic company culture. I felt highly valued and appreciated. I learned more at this company than at any other I've ever worked at.

    Cons

The company did too well - it was purchased for its patents and sales force, and the rest of the staff was let go and the office closed.

I worked at Santarus full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The best executive management team that I have ever had the pleasure to work under. Everyone from the CEO down seemed to understand that the value in the company were the people.

    Cons

Sadly acquired by Salix so the culture is no more. Look for where Gerry Proehl lands next - it will be a lucky company.

I worked at Santarus full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    My manager was really good

    Cons

Poor planning- rug pulled out from under very good employees who actually were hard working. Poor drugs and poor upper management.

I worked at Santarus full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Small company environment allows you to gain experience and exposure to many different areas of the pharmaceutical industry. If you work hard and build advocates you can be a part of many different committees i.e. sales compensation, sales training and development etc. and build your skill sets

    Cons

When times are good you can be lulled into thinking that you are a highly valued team member. Like most pharmaceutical companies there are challenges i.e. products going generic, lost court cases etc. Hard work, self sacrifice, and top performance will not save you if a patent is lost etc. There is just not enough revenue streams to endure a product miss.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More attention needs to be given to the field. Home office rules all here and the people on the front lines will usually take the brunt of any cutbacks, failed marketing plans etc. Additionally, the leader of HR and Sales Training has way to much influence over sales operations and the organization. Additionally there is a surprisingly high amount of gossip originating from the top. Because of this the home office does not have the trust of the front line employees.
