    Pros

Enjoyed maintaining the Retail Operational Standard Guidelines set forth by the corporation. Monitor and review store performance using store systems and procedures.. Coaching and Mentoring Staff for growth.

    Cons

I found that the long hours for the Front Store Manager position in comparison to the salary Income was not adequate. Not getting acknowledged for a job well done. No pension plan and insufficient benefits.

    Advice to Management

Treat all staff with dignity and respect. Remember the corporation core values. Recognize the staff when they have done a good job. Offer better benefit packages and pension.

I have been working at Shoppers Drug Mart part-time

    Pros

It was good because it was relaxing. I enjoyed how people treated me.

    Cons

They are short staffed, and I often found myself to be the only cashier when the lineup is large.

  3. Drama drama drama

    Pros

Loved the customers and enjoyed the actual work part of the job. Learned a lot while I was there. As a corporation their standards are high and they run very efficiently. Shoppers pays really well for a retail store

    Cons

So much drama starting with the owner. HR not much help at all. If HR was involved it got worse or stayed the same.

    Pros

Flexible schedule, good customer service experience, 30% discount on merchandise, not difficult work, can ask for vacation time

    Cons

Just minimum wage pay, sometimes expected to stay after shift
Overall it's a great place to work if you're looking for part time experience

  7. Each experience differs depending on associate and management. Very sad that associates dont interact with FS staff.

    Pros

    PDP Discount is great.
    A lot of loyal customers.
    Great points program

    Cons

Lousy 2% raise once a year.
Head office cutting hours because sales are not up. -> Not store/employees fault. Workers do not control traffic flow of customers and how much money they are to spend. Reduction of FS hours if store does not meet high sale set by head office.

    Advice to Management

HEAD OFFICE: I understand that in order to make money as a company you have to do cut backs and what not. How do you expect employees to control what people buy or spend in a store? I understand employees have a responsibility to make a customer experience to be the most it can be when walking into a SDM store and that has a lot to do with returning customers who are loyal to purchasing from that store location. But at the same time it is quite unfair to cut the number of hours we are given to distribute in the yearly budget among FS staff when the hours used for staff are necessary bodies (not even extra bodies) that are needed to run the FS on a daily basis.

    Pros

Good discount on personal care goods, cosmetics and groceries at all Shopper and Murale locations.

    Cons

Each Shoppers is run separately. No lateral career movement between Shoppers. Have to reapply anew.

  9. Squeeze to the last drop..cheap and stressful

    Pros

Really nothing worth mentioning good about SDM

    Cons

The work that should be done by 2-3 pharmacists is done by ONE The same for technicians workload, in the end you are in the madness of stress and lots of unhappy customers and ringing phones, and line to handle on drop off and pick up of prescription and they put you alone in the shift after 8 pm. Work from hell...This is my experience over 10 years from Alberta to Ontario and relif work...all sharing the same value..squeeze each employee to the last drop. Management reduce the amount of hours that the associate can use which stress them and cascading on everyone else in the store. Cheap....

    Advice to Management

Be a human...look at the employees as humans, not machines

  10. So far, not the greatest

I have been working at Shoppers Drug Mart

    Pros

    -Good discount for employees
    -Flexibility with schedule
    -Co-workers are awesome

    Cons

-Very little training took place at my store, very chaotic. People are expected to know things who have never been trained on it.
-Pay is a joke, barely above minimum wage.
-Not enough staff, feels like a struggle to get your tasks done.
    -Customers can be extremely obnoxious.

    Advice to Management

Increase the wage to something more acceptable and add more bodies on the floor so the employees can provide their best work.
