Current Employee – been working at Sunoco full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – People are rewarded based on their hard work, the pay and benefits package is great, there is a lot of opportunities to learn new things, and the employees are a great group of people to work with.
Cons – The company has undergone a lot of changes in the last few years and this has cut back on the growth opportunities. The company has recently been bought by Energy Transfer Partners so the future of each department isn't that clear. 9/80 ends in January 2013. The current headquarters is in an area that doesn't offer much and the building is a mess.
Advice to Senior Management – Bring back job shadowing so that employees can continue to develop skills outside of their department. Encourage teamwork where everyone works towards the benefit of the department instead of what works best for themselves.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend

Former Employee – worked at Sunoco part-time for more than a year
Pros – Great place to work at if you have a friend to work with. However, this depends on the owner of the gas station.

Former Employee – worked at Sunoco part-time for less than a year
Pros – Easy, just need to know how to run a cash register.
Cons – No real room for growth. Felt micro-managed by district manager!
Advice to Senior Management – Have some confidence in your lowly employees who help you stay in business. Treat them with respect.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Sunoco
Pros – Salary. Salary. Salary. Salary, and Salary. Really, that's it.
Cons – Complete lack of vision and leadership from the top down. I've never met anyone in my 20 years that has ever asked what my goals were for my career. Lack of business sense by management is astounding, and has led to a consistent decline in performance against their peer companies. MGT needs to learn that in the modern business world, it is the employees BELOW you that determine your success as a company.
Advice to Senior Management – Look in the mirror: If you ever wondered why a company with a 100+ YEAR track record is closing, look no further. YOU are the reason why.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
