Current Employee – been working at Syntel full-time for more than a year
Pros – Syntel offers terrific growth opportunities for lateral employees.
There is a lot of stress on trainings, certifications and cross training.
There is no dearths of "experts" eager to share knowledge.
Cons – Poor management structure. Poor processes.
Very little stress on employee benefits. Customer centric approach to the extent of ignoring employee sentiments.
Poor information systems.
Advice to Senior Management – Learn to care for the employee. A happy employee is a productive employee.
What else could explain a employee strength of 20,000 in 30 years whreas Infosys in the same space has 1.5k+ employees. This has direct benefits on linear revenue.
Another thing would be stress upon industry-academia partnership. Syntel currently has a poor name in academic circles. This will help attract the best talents.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Former Employee – worked at Syntel full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – They have a good variety of clients. They frequently send their employees over to the client's site.
Cons – Company does not care for their employees. As an ex: their offices in Bombay, India are more like sweatshops. People are crammed into rooms, the chairs are really awful. The salaries are not par with the market rate. Very little investment in training.
