    Pros

    1. Anybody can get a job here ...
    2. There is complete job security, the useless can stick around for a lifetime and build careers by just sucking up to your managers ..

    Cons

    1. Poor leadership .. no involvement with the developers . Every manager spends 90% of his time pleasing his boss. a Manager does not know the names of his developers
    2. Extremely poor support systems, Finance, HR, Admin, Transport, VISA are different countries with no connectivity
    3. Each of the above departments have their own systems - Imagine having to raise an onsite travel request ..
    4. The HR are the most callous and rude people, or wait is that the Finance department ? Every unit of this company competes to make the employees life living hell.
    5. You can escalate your problems to your management - but then you become the "black sheep" and anyway no one bothers about the real issue.
    6. The transport is managed by goons and its a genuine safety issue.
    7. The appraisal system is a joke, there is no data captured in the system and everything is perception based. This is good if your manager loves you though.
    8. The company is money minded and employees are NOT the most important Asset. Expense reports require 7 levels of approvals and the finance department acts as if they are paying money from their own pockets even for genuine expenses
    9. From a business standpoint, Clients see Syntel as a staffing company and there are very few large clients and value added work being done here
    10. This is a classic case of how a stick gets the work done
    11. They have a 5S value system which stands for Simple, Smart, Stretch, Synergy and Speed .. but once you get inside you realize it stands for Stupidity, Sycophancy, Slowness, Selfishness, Stingy ..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Any advice to the management falls on deaf years so its a moot point.

    1. They could do with a little bit of Humility, listening to the employees, reduce arrogance, improve internal systems and processes, make the support departments accountable to the employees, reduce red-tape ..
    2. Succession planning, 1-on-1 interviews, fair and transparent performance assessments.
    3. Encourage different ideas, allow the people to speak and appear to listen
    One could write a book here ..

    Not Yet Joined in the company

    Cons

    They have released the offer and requested to join before dd-Jan2015, based on this I got relieved earlier from my previous company and sent mail to HR saying I would be able to join 5 days earlier the given date, however now they extend the date by 10 Days because of this am loosing almost 20 days salary

    Lots of things to learn and acquire professional skills. Very nice company culture and nice people to work with.

    Promotion rate is very low as well as salary hike is also dissatisfactory.

    Don't hire people like castles. Pick wisely and give them full credibility.

    3. good for freshers if they get into a good project
    4. friendly work environment

    Cons

    1. pathetic joining procedure for freshers, syntel may take more than 1-2 years to give you joining
    2. project allocation for freshers is also very bad
    3. pay scales are not very good

    Onsite opportunity. Learn new technology. Transport facility. Good technical growth. You will get a lot to learn. Office culture is neutral.

    Cons

    Worst HR department. No proper hikes for deserving candidates. Promotions only if you can create dependencies.

    Learn how to give hikes as per their capabilities , Not as per the manager biased reviews. Make it more transparent.
