    A limiting, disappointing experience...

Backroom Associate (Former Employee) Virginia Beach, VA (US)

Prosit is hard to get fired, minimal responsibility, very easy job to learn, flexible hours, weekly pay is good

Consno room for growth, pay is minimal, hours are hard to come by, the more experience you get the less hours you get, horribly managed, too many authority figures with no single model to follow, not enough hours for a reasonable workload, too much outside hiring

Advice to Senior Managementchange the policies so that they don't contradict each other. they do not work for the store level. Mgmt needs more guidance on how to build a better successful model

ASM (Former Employee) Phoenix, AZ (US)

    ProsGood pay and paid weekly.

Cons60 plus hours a week. The district manager is always in your business, a puppet master. The open door policy is only for associates, if you use it as a manager you will be on the district managers bad list.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep your opinions to yourself. Come to work and do your job and be a yes person.

    A decent place

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsI got to work with a diverse crowd. The environment at work was fun and very accepting. Besides, I got an opportunity to interact with customers from different cultures.

ConsUnfortunately, sometimes, not enough employees are scheduled to work at a given shift, which makes everybody struggle.

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove communication flow.

Great place to work if you want to build customer service skills.

Anonymous (Current Employee) Chesterfield, MI (US)

    ProsEnvironment is positive and upbeat
    Hours are flexible
Employees are recognized and rewarded for their efforts

ConsIt is annoying to have to push the TJ Maxx rewards credit card onto the customers
Raises are not very good, 28 cents at the most
Some of the policies of TJ Maxx are stupid, for example a mere 99 cent discount for damaged goods

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease hire associates with positive attitudes.

Be passionate about your job, or don't work here

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat culture and growing company. Great for a first time job or to gain retail experience. Fast paced and dynamic workplace.

ConsThe pay is not competitive, and is no where near the actual cost of living. Compared to many other retailers the insurance is nowhere near as great. Not too flexible schedule wise. The company also needs to work on internal development .

Advice to Senior ManagementWork more on your hourly associates! They love the company also, and want to grow with it. You may hire at minimum wage, and get minimum effort from some, but your dedicated and hard workers are not being given raises and paid any differently than those who don't care.

    – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
