Pros – Salary is decent
My manager is okay
It is a job in a poor economy.
Better to collect the plasma than donate the plasma.
Cons – Since Grifols has taken over...benefits not as good, business model is purely production number driven . hours are terrible.

Current Employee – been working at Talecris full-time for more than a year
Pros – Health insurance
Comfortable yet busy work place
Staff are mostly awesome
Sundays always off
Cons – Uncertainty due to recent firings
Buyout by Grifols makes long time staff less valuable
Management lacks independence from corporate that it once had
Advice to Senior Management – Stand up for you staff. You know their character, now keep yours by fighting for the good ones.
Treat the donors better. They are the lifeblood of your business, literally, so a gatorade or a speedpass will mean nothing when your numbers drop too low for Grifols to maintain you.
Don't badmouth hourly staff to other hourly staff--every word you say gets back to them. If a person is willing to sit and listen to badmouthing, they are willing to share it with everyone else, and that becomes part of your character to the whole staff.
Remember that "Go read the SOP" is only a fair answer if it's followed with "and I'll do your job for you while you read the SOP" because the staff with good work ethic will simply go ask someone else instead of making donors wait.

Current Employee – been working at Talecris full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Excellent benefits, PTO, insurance, profit sharing, 401K (especially prior to Grifols acquisition)
Cons – Since the Grifols acquisition there is less priority on donor safety (no vending machines or any accomodations for nourishment) and far less information sharing between management and staff. There is no team approach; few regular update meetings no feedback on how we are doing unless it is negative.
Advice to Senior Management – The problem is likely at the corporate level. Accomplishments should be recognized and rewarded. Management should accept responsibility and not delegate all the work. Management should not allow bullying by area leads which can lead to a hostile work environment.

Pros – Competitive pay, frequent bonuses, get to meet tons of new people.
Cons – Always very busy, hours may vary, must follow strict government guidelines (this is true in any plasma center)

Current Employee – been working at Talecris
Pros – The management position is respected by the hourly staff. If you get a good Assistant Director you will be able to run your center your way if not you will have a less than desirable time
Cons – Many battles are fought between some quality supervisors and the management staff. some centers show favoritism towards theiir coworkers and will make life unhappy for those people they do not like

Former Employee – worked at Talecris
Pros – Many opportunities to learn and grow in the science field. Lots of opportunities to expand knowledge with classes such as auditing, computers, etc.
Cons – The company paid lower salaries than most of the competing companies. However, the company is stable providing most with good job security, so this may be looked over.
Advice to Senior Management – Management was doing a pretty good job when I was employed at Talecris, however, they may need to listen to the needs of their employees as far as salaries to be more competitive.
