Great place to start but not grow.

ProsGreat perks and free food. TD is a great company for recent college grads or individuals out of work. they do a great job getting people in using the internal Temp Agency "Spherion."

ConsAdvancement is solely based on what is written on paper, or who your smoking buddies are (literally). My manager is also non-existent and not very helpful with the advancement of my career. All the skills I have obtain on my own initiative and seeking my own training opportunities.
Salaries are also not very competitive with the market

Advice to Senior ManagementHire better managers.
CEO is almost no-existent other seeing him walking around rarely.

ProsBenefits are ok, some good people there as far as coworkers.

ConsSlim chance of advancement, some mgt has their favorites and shows it openly, company does not show loyalty to low level employees, hr is no help at all, as one reviewer stated, be careful you will be eventually be ran over by a bus. somewhat of a good place to start but don't stay too long if no advancement. If the executives would really listen to lower level employees input this would be as great place to work.

Advice to Senior ManagementExecutives should really listen to lower level employees input on mid-level mgt. Show loyalty to long term employees, improve HR, let job rotation be optional, STOP promoting low level employees to mgt with no mgt exp or people skills. Promote based on job performance and longevity not based off being the mgts favorite person on the team. Respect, Respect Respect goes a long way. Let lower level employees decide what the CMI should be based off of mgt's performance this might improve how mid-level mgt treats their team.

Great place to learn 2 tier distribution and make multiple vendor contacts but long term prospects are slim.

ProsAccess to top industry vendors to network with. Some great people to work with. Free software and hardware giveaways for product management and sales. Vendor sponsored concerts, sporting events and dinners.

ConsHigh turnover of employee's at all levels because of pay and overall negative atmosphere. Promotion in product management positions not based on performance but on if TD can get a vendor to fund the spot. Many employee's not willing to put in extra effort but to just work the eight hours they're paid for. Selling based on price not on value add.

Advice to Senior ManagementCommunicate more with your line level employee's and be more accessible.

Not as expected

Marketing Account Executive (Former Employee)

ProsDecent benefits packages that can be affordable including the return of the partial 401k match. There are many nice people and working with a good team made it a generally nice place to be.

ConsPeople are Nita's smart as they think they are. Low salaries make it difficult to draw from the world-wide talent that is out there.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on trining pope from the beginning, so that everyone is on the same age and working twrd achieving the same goal.

ProsBig company where you can meet life long friends. Lots of perks from the vendors you work with: sports tickets, dinners, outings, etc. Meet a lot of high up VP, Presidents, etc of major corporations.

ConsMy manager changed 5 times in less than 3 years. Promoting is only when something is available and is usually given by seniority versus talent and hard work.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet with your employees more and talk about and work with them on their career path at Tech data.

great place to start and "do your time and gain experience"

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

Prosgreat enviroment- good benefits. Excellent place to get experience and start carreer.

ConsNot many high paying positions exist. starting careers at tech data is great, but not very much opprotunity with in to grow.

Advice to Senior Managementleaders come from outside, would be better to offer opprotunity to existing employees. This would allow employees to not only be able to start their career, but to grow with in the company.

Tech Data used to be a place I enjoyed working, now it's just a paycheck, a pitiful one at that.

Logistics Manager (Current Employee)

I have been working at Tech Data

ProsGreat place to learn how not to treat employees
Great place to learn the distribution and logistics business
Great place to start your career - but don't stay too long

ConsSr. Leadership doesn't the path of desctruction they are leaving behind. They take hourly employees for granted and use people to do their dirty work.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't take employees and lower level managers for granted, they are your assets, not your door mats. They can help make the company succeed or fail.

Prosconvienant to home, great excuse for not having a home life, bonuses to Sr. management, no two days ever the same.

Consnarcissistic micromanagment, a technology company using antiquanted technology, lack of communication from corprate down and director down, company value statement is not worth the paper it is printed on.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagment by this weeks trend, then next weeks trend does not establish trust in managment or stability, constant smiling faces do not equate to happy employees.
