Best education in the Southern United States

Research Assistant (Current Employee)
New Orleans, LA (US)

I have been working at Tulane University full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGreat Community, Freedom in Work, Well Funded, Strong Leadership that attracts the best, and the most unique city in the country.

ConsPoor administration logistics. Paperwork is slow and tedious due to poor service and information.

Advice to Senior ManagementStreamline the paper mills by training the student workers. Its amazing how long it takes documents to go through such a small system, that's not counting the number of times things are simply lost in transit.

Mixed feelings.

PhD Student (Former Employee)
New Orleans, LA (US)

I worked at Tulane University full-time for more than 3 years

ProsSalary is competitive. Most classes are taught well. Campus is pretty. Great city to have fun in. Other graduate students are supportive.

ConsMost faculty care nothing for their students and treat them with disrespect. The undergrads are often rich, entitled kids that just want to party and then complain and cause problems when they don't get A's. In addition, the staff are often an obstacle to productivity....on this note, facilities services is the worst.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your graduate students with respect. They are underpaid, overworked, and their careers depend on the whims of their advisers. The staff should actually provide helpful, friendly, and speedy customer service instead of the alternative.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
