I worked at UCLA full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Many different types of resources. There are also many different positions across multiple fields within the university, so opportunities for moving around within UCLA are abundant. Los Angeles is a very diverse, exciting city in which to lie and work.

    Cons

A lot of bureaucracy to navigate. It's also a large university, but individual departments can make it feel like a much smaller, more intimate work environment. Compensation isn't that great, but it's not that bad either.

    I worked at UCLA

    Pros

Beautiful supportive creative working environment. Very stimulating and rewarding experience. Some of the best people I have ever worked with.

    Cons

Parking can be a challenge and my solution was to arrive several hours early and find a quiet nook to work on my laptop, thus leaving promptly at the end of the day to beat L.A. traffic.
