I worked at Unisys full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Good place to learn if you interested in upping your career in the field.
     - Environment mostly good, with fun activities when management decides to spend a little money on employees.
     - Mostly good people to work with, and made some really close friends for life.
     - Rarely a dull day at office
     - Training to keep the people up to date, although sometimes its reactive to a bad situation - leading it to be more of damage control(guess that makes it a Con)

    Cons

    - Lots and lots of Office politics!!! - although you learn to deal with it, so I'm not sure if its a Pro or Con.
     - Salary differences between people on same level can lead to unhealthy environment at times.
     - Favoritism shown by certain upper management staff.
     - Low work-life balance if you are in a managerial role: you are expected to stay longer, and no over time is to be expected

I worked at Unisys full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good Work-life Balance as you move along thee career niche.
Friendly colleagues and great learning environment.
Mostly follows ITIL framework for IT Services and there is a lot to learn at every phase.
Clearly defined strategies and competitive work commitments.
Innovative company with new thinking and strategy towards future business in Market.
A career development with higher education is a great option handy for those whose aspirations are a way high.

    Cons

Mediocre Management in certain dept.s of the company.
Always rushing for a fire fight than fire prevention - Lots of Issues on isolating the areas of improvement.
Leadership is not so focused to look into retention policies.
Non-Transparent HR Practices: What they publicize in IJPs is not what they provide when someone clear it and gets promoted. Followed a procedure that do not pay hike in salary but would only get you to go for a designation change.
Lately the India unit are close to a failure in assessing the market conditions to make a future strategy.
The Sales team almost all the times loses and anticipates in the loss of annual revenues.
HR is a big failure in communicating with the employee. Employee promotions should not be governed by Management but it is HR's responsibility to windup every thing and then come to terms for agreement.
On IJP the HR releases the papers and Operations management holds them for months not even allowing the employee know the pay or paying the worth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employee engagement should not be acrobatic to what management want to implement.
Kindly improve the employee retention policies. A near 30-45% annual employee attrition is not a good way to portray that you're a good company to work with.
A promotion without a Salary Hike is not an appropriate way to say to employee especially after so much of competition been involved in filtering the successors.
No one would like to work extra when there is no pay worthy associated to the work.
It is not a good practice to halt the promotion papers for months with Operations Management and finally declaring something to the candidate which is not pleasing. This shows the dispersed internal communication between two essential bodies of the organization.
