Current Employee - Senior Software Engineer in Hyderābād
Current Employee - Senior Software Engineer in Hyderābād

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good Domain, Satisfaction that your are contributing into social cause, Decent Salary, Few Managers good and care about employee growth and benefits.

    Cons

    1. All the PE Directors are rubbish. Some play politics, some have no idea about there role and vision (Specially Product Management) and some are good in operations but handling Engineering ( You can think what values they can add)
    2. No technology advancement so have to work in old technologies and just maintained products. In simple no core engineering work.
    3. Lack of sitting arrangement and Leaders want you to sit in the office till late night and reason given is that each seat where we sit costs so spend more time. Not sure if this is Product Engineering or Support.
    4. Managers abuse employees on there seats cause there are not much conference rooms.
    5. All directors are each other friends or have have work in the past which disallows the diversification.
    6. Product Engineering groups run on perceptions and if you are good with Boss you are the best.
    7. Managers are not at all people friendly and they abuse QE on the floor.
Advice: Never work in Quality Engineering because there is no respect for your work, you are being regularly abused by Development Managers, Development Managers have no idea about QE and they make bad statements on floor, Lack of Automation cause everything is being run by US and you can only execute.
    8. Not a employee friendly organization (Works in PE so can talk about PE)
    9. Lot of politics played by each Director and you could be meshed in them.
    10. Dev does junk work as they only either fix defects or support products and there is nothing new they plan, design and build.
    11. There is lot more to say but my advice for all intelligent engineers will be to try for better organizations and just don't go by the revenue. Revenue doesn't speak for work you have to do or respect you will get in the organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management just need to reshuffle the Leadership in Product Engineering as leaders here are just making fool of organization without having vision and also just playing politics. Appreciate if each Leader is interviewed by outside Product Engineering and then test there capabilities. Good will be if you watch the Pillar presentation given by Leaders in Caresol, you will find the knowledge Leaders carry in PE. John, Paratha and Gayathri please look into the PE organization and it really needs a change and same could be seen through Vital Sign Survey. Leaders are gathering excuses to give to Executive leadership.
