Current Employee – been working at VMware full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Good perks
RSUs
Good technology to learn
Cons – 1. Huge number of mangers and Sr.Managers and do a lot process things to stay alive in their job, this torchers employees.
2. Very less technical knowledge for managers in Bangalore and all are process oriented. Make employees work dull.
3. Very unstable process in overall Vmware and everyday new changes can be seen due to lack of planning
4. Recently some of good employees laid off, I see lot inefficient people still working.
5. I see very worst changes in Bangalore from past 2 years.
6. No technical growth support from many managers.
7. More work and but no resource.
8. I see India center works as conservative and wants to show lots of $$ saving to HQ.

Current Employee – been working at VMware full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – 1. Interesting products and technology.
2. RSUs.
Cons – 1. Growing company, hence usual teething pains.
2. Processes are still being laid out with trial and error.
3. Extremely frequent re-orgs.
4. Laid off some really good engineers recently even though many terrible engineers remained safe.
5. Extremely high workload. No work-life balance.
BLR center:
1. No learning and development team. So, virtually non-existent skill building for employees.
2. HR is very weak.
3. Facilities team is not very competent.
4. Didn't lay off a senior employee who was accused of sexual harassment.
5. Not employee friendly.
6. Managers and many male employees are biased against women employees. Be prepared to listen to sexist and regressive comments.
7. Long term employees' salary are not competent in current market. New joinees are paid a lot more. No effort to equalize salary of older employees with that of new joinees.
8. You are only as good as your manager.
9. Weak QE management.
10. Bloated mid-level management layer; too many senior managers and directors.
Advice to Senior Management – Buck up.
Do not lay off random folks from teams. Do your research if you need to lay off folks.
Reduce management layer.
Get ground reality of BLR center from individual contributors and not managers/directors.
Drive transparency and accountability in management layer.
Give freedom to folks in BLR to move to different teams within BLR.
