It's good to work here, the benefits are great, people enjoy working here as we handle diverse topics.
Due to the license fee there seems to be guilt associated with employee benefits and they aren’t as generous as some comparable employers.
The best thing is the pension, which is the most generous I have come across. The BBC will contribute up to 10% of your salary depending on your levels of contribution. However, other than the pension the benefits are fairly limited. The main benefit missing is any form of bonus (which shouldn’t be surprising given the status of the BBC). They do offer the usual range of tax effective benefits (childcare vouchers, cycle to work scheme etc).
Salary below market rate (although management will claim it's benchmarked). No monetary benefits included, just salary and a 'corporation day' (extra days leave at Christmas). Operates a scheme through third party to let you pay for additional benefits yourself.
It's a good balance for a large public sector organization.
