What does an Admissions Counselor do?

Admissions advisors recruit prospective students and provide guidance, advice, and assistance with the enrollment process. They most commonly work for colleges, universities, business or technical schools, and training centers. They respond to inquiries and connect with leads, providing information about the educational institution and specific programs. They explain admissions requirements, share details about the application process, and research any additional information that may be needed. They may organize and participate in recruitment events and other outreach activities or marketing initiatives.

Admissions advisors typically have a bachelor’s degree and a background in enrollment services, marketing, or higher education. Familiarity with admissions and enrollment procedures is an advantage. These roles require excellent communication and customer service skills. Marketing experience is also helpful, as is proficiency with enrollment tools and programs.
