What does an Attendant do?
Attendants perform a variety of customer support and service tasks in a broad range of settings, including hotels, dining establishments, parking operations, outdoor facilities, and retail businesses. They assist clients, provide information, and ensure orderly and efficient operations. Some attendant positions also involve performing maintenance or housekeeping duties or fulfilling a security role. They complete and organize paperwork and documentation. They may be responsible for maintaining inventory and ordering supplies.
Attendants have a high school diploma, and often have a background in customer relations, maintenance, or logistics. These roles require excellent customer relations skills and strong attention to detail. Some roles may involve standing for long periods of time or performing physically strenuous tasks. Must be able to remain focused and organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Take the daily inventory of available products.
- Train, monitor, and coach performance of all sales and service staff.
- Move stock into, out of, and around the work center.
- Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, collating, faxing etc.
- Maintain safe and clean reception area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Manage wait time and create an inviting atmosphere that will also create a great work environment.
- Inform clients and staff of all products available for retail purchase when appropriate.
- Provide cleaning and basic maintenance to equipment if needed.
- Escalate customer complaints to the site manager when appropriate.
- Monitor daily, weekly or monthly facility maintenance of equipment/machinery.
- Work safely and report safety or maintenance issues to management.
- Handle administrative tasks including inventory and reporting.
- Answer phones, book appointments, sell memberships, gift cards and upgrades.
- GED or High School Degree in information technology or equivalent experience.
- Decision making and problem solving with composure and a positive attitude.
- A strong work ethic and strict attention to details.
- Familiar with safety protocols and best practices such as sanitizing.
- Strong time management skills.
- Comfortable with problem solving and multitasking.
