What does a Division Manager do?
Division managers fill a high-level role that oversees a broad range of functions related to the comprehensive operations of an organizational unit, sales territory, or business region. They create and manage business plans and budgets, set and enforce policies, and handle recruitment, hiring, and other personnel duties. They may be responsible for determining and meeting sales or revenue benchmarks, and create strategic plans for growth and development. They are accountable for ensuring all staff and facilities adhere to any applicable regulations, laws, and local codes.
Division managers typically have at least a bachelor’s degree in a business field and an extensive background in sales, marketing, or related areas. These roles require strong leadership skills and familiarity with HR practices and regulations. They must have a sales and marketing mindset with a focus on driving revenue and growth.
- Ensure guest reservation policies, standards and procedures are met.
- Coordinate needs with contract labor companies within the assigned division.
- Develop and implement short and long-range plans to maximize productivity, material utilization and reduce costs.
- Review payroll, time records, and service paperwork for field teams.
- Review, measure, and evaluate the effectiveness of the workforce.
- Direct full range of sales activities for assigned area through sales team.
- Oversee the development of quarterly recruiting, marketing, and budgeting plans.
- Work under general supervision and carry out work assignments in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training or accepted practices.
- Clarify key goals and initiatives that will ensure success of the strategic plan.
- Identify and implement strategies to achieve sales goals and objectives.
- Partner with Finance for weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting for senior management meetings and presentations.
- Achieve productivity ratios as well as budget targets for operational goals through the use and/or implementation of the appropriate tools.
- Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in business, business administration or engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience with R Language, AutoCAD, spreadsheets, and budget planning software and systems.
- Demonstrated time management and decision making skills.
